INSPIRATION: North Park, San Diego - 10.28.15

Sometimes you just need to get away… catch up with an old friend… take a day trip… for tacos… and donuts on the beach… and check out some fun new shops… and that’s just what we did! Day trip to San Diego to see the new spots in North Park… and cruising up the coast to see what’s new in Del Mar, Solana Beach, Encinitas, Carlsbad, Oceanside… and stopping off in the OC for soup dumplings and puffles! Check out the inspiration and goodies we found along the way on the next page!

My google maps is filled with stars every time i travel or find new spots i’m curious about… every now and then after visiting in real life they might get unstarred. San Diego will always be one of my home away from homes, and my friend and i started noticing a bunch of new stars popping up in North Park down there - so decided to take a day to catch up and wander down to see what’s new! sdoc1.jpg

As you cruise 30th in North Park there are more brewery/tasting rooms and brewpubs than you can imagine… as well as coffee spots… donut spots… lots of cute new food!

Tacos Perla! Delicious street tacos with the most adorable mascot! sdoc2.jpg

Of all the things we found - i’m most smitten by Pigment! A huge corner shop filled with gifts for guys, girls, kids… and lots of beautiful, affordable, unique little pots, succulents, and air plants! We couldn’t resist some pots to bring home. sdoc3.jpg

Cute mural! sdoc7.jpg

It’s no surprise that amongst so many beer spots up and down the street (and side streets) - that we found The Homebrewer - great branding, and the amount of things in the store almost made me want to try brewing! Such an incredible resource. sdoc8.jpg

One of the “must try” picks on our list was Nomad Donuts (look at those cute bindles!) - so we… impulse pre-ordered quite a few the night before with promises to bring some back for LA folks… and decided to take them to one of my favorite college beach spots to relax and try one! The apple jam w/ pumpkin spice was definitely my stand out. SO GOOD! sdoc9.jpg

Working our way back to LA found ourselves fascinated by this Dojo Van?!?!?!?! sdoc11.jpg

And to skip traffic we tried Din Tai Fung for soup dumplings in Costa Mesa… so fun to watch them making them!

Here’s the ridiculous Din Tai Fung mascot… and then we popped by Cauldron Ice Cream for their “OG PUFFLE” aka Hong Kong Egg Waffles… as a cone for their nitrogen ice cream! Honestly - the puffle is better than the ice cream. sdoc12.jpg

So that’s our random little day trip! So much newness in SD and a few stops definitely worth going back to see (like Pigment!!!)
