Toyrama = HP+Fowler

toyramamain.jpgThis one goes out to all the Monsterism fans out there ~ apparently Pete Fowler has teamed up with HP and created HP Toyrama. I just spotted this over at StashMedia Feed and started making silly little movies. Far too fun and nicely done flash stop action movie making where YOU TOO can animate some Monsterism creatures... and win things. (LOTS of screenshots below of you're short on time.) According to the press release:

Singapore, Aug 2, 2007 – Embarking on magical adventures is not just for Shrek-like ogres and furry animals from Over the Hedge anymore as HP kicks off a unique contest that invites digital animators across Asia Pacific to create, design and direct short, animated skits using high-performance workstations and graphics tools.
Christened the HP Toyrama Contest, this online competition developed by Arc Worldwide Singapore challenges the best digital content creators in the region to create innovative and rich multimedia stop-motion animation starring five toy characters named Sancho, Farm Girl, Ranger, Jogger and Green from Monsterism Island, designed by cult toy designer, Pete Fowler. The contest has two categories – the Open segment, for enthusiasts, amateurs or students with a passion for animation; as well as the Professional segment, for the more proficient animators.

Bravia Play Doh Bunnies

braviabunnies.jpgSo i've been hearing about the Sony Bravia play doh bunnies running around NY all weekend, and finally sat and tried to dig up whatever info and images possible (thank goodness for flickr... particularly dennyliem and davidwatts1978 who had great sets up from the shoot)... and i've compiled them below for a quick overview (and they just make me smile ~ i wish i could have seen them in person!).

So here's the story - its the third of the Sony Bravia "Color like no other" campaigns... the first being the bouncy balls in SF and then the paint explosions in Glasgow... and coming soon, the play doh bunnies in NY! I can't wait, check out what people have seen so far below. According to TV Ad Land, "Play Doh is being staged in New York by Frank Budgen of Gorgeous Enterprises, working with a creative team from Fallon, including creative director Juan Cabral."

Ludo Escrime

Ludo Escrime - an impressively overwhelming splash teaser page by Le Coq Sportif for Ludo Escrime. For those who pay close attention, it is not often that fencing and design cross paths, but when they do we also feature it specially for RUGenius (Sr. Editor of NOTCOT.org and resident international fencer). Can't wait to see what this site becomes in November - and interesting to roll over and see how the images bounce around in 3D? And with the green and red glow - it feels very star wars... meets robot chicken?

crunchers.jpgCrunchers - the latest ad campaign from Crunch from Curious Pictures. I tracked down 5 of the hilarious animated commercials on youtube for your viewing pleasure below. Also, i must admit, i've never been much of a gym goer... but i'm impressed with Crunch - you know the one with the crazy classes like surfing fitness, stiletto strength, pole dancing, BOSU balancing, Cirque du soleil like stunts, and boxing... (not to mention i got my ass kicked by a trainer today, so i'm extra sore and indulging in watching videos and posting from the couch right now)... beyond the simply awesome ad campaign (you will love them) - the SF location i gave in to has a nice, fun, funky feel - doesn't smell like a gym, nice machines, like the layout, 3 story rock wall - and i swear every time i have been in the locker rooms they are cleaning or have just finished cleaning the showers. Anyhow, if anyone else wants to try it, let me know and i'll email you a guest pass.

p.s. just added a bunch of their wallpapers at the bottom too - the dodgeball one is pretty cute.

Axe: Get a girlfriend

axeads.jpgHmmm Axe strikes again, with another hilarious ad campaign. This time is the "Get A Girlfriend" 3 step process to take you from the scenes shown to having the ladies hanging all over you in no time. And i don't know what it is that struck me, but i gotta say, the frog leaping contest looks pretty fun/funny (see the closeup of the frog below, its expression is hilarious), the high score on the arcade game cracked me up, and damn thats a lot of legos. Furnitosis [fur-ni-toh-sis] "A condition born from ill-fitting, unsightly office furniture. Symptoms include curvature of the spine hunching, fatigue, dementia, disillusionment, headache, shame, sagging and unplanned guttural noises."

Ewww. Good thing this so called furnitosis is so easy to cure. Bad posture from a not so ergonomic chair has never sounded quite so bad to me before, but these images over at Steelcase certainly make their painfully exaggerated point. See their solutions for these cases below. Thank goodness my Think which i reviewed earlier keeps me from having that crazy twisty neck!

Diesel Global Hotspots

Remember the Diesel Global Warming campaign? Well the catalog to go with is just as great... "The World's Coolest Hotspots Guide". Besides the images from the ads and the product shots, what really grabbed me about these little red hardbound catalogs were the maps of the future world. Check out pictures of the maps below - london becomes an island, the us only has some large cities and mountains left, italy becomes a more anorexic boot, etc...

Jealous Computers

Jealous Computers, apparently quite the outbreak is happening... well according to JealousComputers.com, the latest viral Nokia N95 campaign. Much like their Great Pockets campaign earlier, this one is a beautifully glossy website, complete with loads of youtube videos of "attacks" of laptops and pcs which are jealous of the new N95. Interesting twist, submit your own stories and videos for t-shirts... check out PSAs, attack videos, the shirts, their "how to deal with jealous computers at work" saftey poster, and even their N95 Disguise Mug below!

Diesel Human After All

Perhaps the most honest or realistic portrayal of the future of humanity... by our brutally/cheekily honest Diesel campaign of the season: Human After All. They have hit on some of the underlying oh so human things that probably wont change... (if history has anything to say about it)... like the boyf/girlf fights with clothes being thrown out of an apt, flight delays, balls breaking things they shouldn't, pancakes sticking to the ceiling, cars breaking down, and of course... (wtf?) putting ikea furniture together? Well, personally i hope that ikea retires that terrible coffee table by the future (i think ive known too many people with that table!). (thanks, alex)

Time to Work Out?

Every have one of those days where the world (read: internet) is trying to send you a message? A message like "go workout"? Or maybe its just some of the great design i found over at the Brandon Blog this morning. He has these gorgeous ads from a Brazilian Gym. The copy says: 1) Give your slender body a chance to get rid of you 2) Find your slender body hidden somewhere in your scale 3) Get rid of your weight off your shoulders. And below i also have the Nike+ ad that i can't stop laughing from... "I'm not a runner... i don't enjoy breathing heavy like a pregnant walrus... how can anyone be addicted to this? There's no way around it, running sucks. But you know what sucks more? MAN BOOBS." So true.

Want 2 B Square

Ever go to a site that leaves you wishing there were more hours in the day just so you could spend more time on it? want2bsquare.com is doing that for me right now. It's a site for the Toyota Scion xB which plays with the idea of turning all things boxy. They present you with a few different worlds to explore, and my favorite is Screen City. There's so much to look at and play with (videos and mini games), and I've barely even scratched the surface!

Guitar Hero II

Freshly launched today for xbox 360 ~ Guitar Hero II has been my between work distraction of the day ~ its far too fun "strumming" to possum kingdom between posts... just discovered one of the gorgeous ad spots over on Stash Media's Feed. "Pete Candeland, the Passion Pictures powerhouse director behind the Gorillaz videos does it again, this time for the Xbox 360's Guitar Hero II. The agency is McCann Worldgroup out of San Francisco." Its a really beautiful spot, view it here.

Reyka Vodka

Reyka Vodka ~ from iceland ~ their ads on youtube have had me in stitches all morning (watch them all below). Her voice and outfit are ADORABLE... in a hilariously cute kind of way... and the black and white sketchy animated world she exists in is just brilliant. And her poignant arguments make me giggle too much this morning. So, while i can't say anything about how good the vodka is, the ads certainly make me want to try some... gorgeous bottle as well. Check out their website here, its got some pretty woodblock style graphics.

Porter Airlines

Fly Porter Airlines... toronto's frisky little airline (looks like their jet blue equiv)... the part that made me swoon today was its mascot raccoon creature (can we say cutest favicon ever?)... and nice clean branding/layouts on the site... screenshots below. And apparently it is the handiwork of Tyler Brule of wallpaper fame and now monocle (the man of the hour on the design/blog scene?)...

UPS Whiteboard Cont'd

Slight continuation to the UPS Whiteboard post from the other day... Remember the billboards i mentioned i didn't have a good pic of? Well apparently the interactive agency responsible for the campaign is Atlanta based IQ Interactive, and Amelia of IQ was kind of enough to track down and send over some pics (that billboard is right in LA off the 405!).

Whiteboards, i can't imagine life without them. That said, have you noticed the GIANT billboard white boards (complete with giant brown dry erase marker) popping up around town? All a part of UPS' latest Whiteboard campaign on tv and billboards everywhere. I can't believe i can't find one quickly to post here tonight, so feel free to share, i keep meaning to take a pic, but haven't had opportune times while driving by them lately...

Some interesting ads and parodies (youtubes below for your viewing pleasure)... also fun trivia ~ "It turns out that after The Martin Agency looked at 1,000 potential actors, they decided to use their own creative director, Andy Azula." (according to Digital Roam)... also i can't decide if its cute or too much that they are using the postal service song... Fun site as well.

Global Warming - Diesel Style

Diesel takes on global warming as only they can... making their latest campaign poignant yet subtle, stylish yet absurd. Focusing on people and places... and claiming in their video that "GLOBAL WARMING CANT STOP OUR LIVES" ~ and thus begins the series of images below, about how although the polar ice caps are melting, etc you can still look good and embrace the heat... Above we have the overgrown tropical gardens in Paris... below there are the macaws who have replaced the Venetian pigeons, warm oceans in Antarctica, the tiny island of London, a post-great-flood Rio and NY, the giant desert that surrounds the great wall, the tropical paradise of Mt. Rushmore... gorgeous imagery from the great Terry Richardson. Global Warming... as approached in a way only Diesel can. Complete with links to stopglobalwarming.org and an inconvenient truth.

WAGS Boutique ~ the british reality tv show over at ITV... " For 13 weeks, the girls (more used to maxing out their credit cards than swiping other people’s) will swap shelf-browsing for shelf-stacking as they set up and run two rival fashion boutiques in central London. From designing the stores and selecting stock to marketing and perfecting their sales technique, the ten WAGs will require determination, flair and a head for business to succeed."

Tobias Carlson and partner at M&C Saatchi London made some fun visuals to go with the show... (more below)... the Chihuahua Urinal in particular cracks me up... although i cant imagine that going over well as boys are stumbling home from the bars? Fun campaign.

Walking down Third Street today... the Puma store remodel caught my eye, and made me light up, stop walking, and suddenly my friend turned and saw me crouched down taking a cameraphone pic of the signage...

St. Mary's ER in SF

One of the best parts of being in SF this week, are these ads. They make me smile every time... they are all over the buses, bus stops, billboards, lamp posts, etc. And oh so true... my favorite kind of design, clean simple with bold font and graphics ~ Work of Mortar for St. Mary's Medical Center ER. Leibovitz takes on Disney

Breathtaking new ad campaign for Disney's Year of a Million Dreams', featuring photography by genius Annie Leibovitz, and Scarlett Johansson, Beyoncé, David Beckham, Lyle Lovett, and Oliver Platt. My favorite tagline "Where imagination saves the day." These photographs reignite my love of fairy tales, myths, fables ~ and are a great example of how universal these ideals are... who doesn't smile at the sight of them?

"Befitting a true princess, Johansson wears a stunning, one-of-a-kind Harry Winston tiara – a dazzling piece in platinum with more than 62 carats of sparkling diamonds and valued at $325,000. The dress worn by Johansson is a custom-made, Cinderella-inspired gown designed by Nicoletta Santoro." WOW. And when can you find these in print? "The campaign premieres as a special insert in the March issues of Vanity Fair, GQ, Vogue, W, The New Yorker, Conde Nast Traveler and Cookie."

Pret DIY

Can it be? Massive chain Pret a Manger ~ is giving away all their secrets AND incorporating some brilliant and witty food photography as well? Apparently so! "We want to share the magic of Pret food with our loyal customers, so we’ve done a very odd thing and decided to reveal our secrets by telling you our recipes! Find a selection of them here, and also on our packaging, bags and postcards. A photographer called Jorgen Ahlstrom took the weird DIY photos."
