Phineas and Ferb Platy-bus at SDCC

platy0.jpg On delayed San Diego Comic Con adventures ~ one of the last things i imaged writing about was Disney’s Phineas and Ferb booth. But it was massive. Had impressive branding… and a converted trailer that was turned into a HUGE Platy-BUS. Seriously, how impressive and eye catching is that thing? Making of video of it on the next page is surreal. While i must admit i’ve caught a few of the cartoon episodes, enough to at least make sense of what was going on… visually, the booth was like entering a crazy cartoon world, and they definitely took it above and beyond. Inflatable tree… with karaoke, guitar, and little platypus stools beneath it… large purple “evil incorporated” blimp flying above… and food truck like trailer serving up limited edition blind box toys of Perry the platypus pet that turns super spy… Then there’s the bizarre branding overload, with nice display cases showing off everything from the Kraft Mac & Cheese version of the characters and fruit snacks to band aids and toothbrushes… as well as other toys. It looked less like they were pitching those to kids and parents, but like a brand display to show off how far they can reach. Anyhow, it was quite a world they created… So things design worthy to note? The Platy-BUS and making of, the platypus stools, and the packaging details… check it all out on the next page!

Inside Bender's Head: Futurama

futcoll0.jpg I know i’ve posted this before, i’ve gift guided it, and wishlisted it even. Well, i finally gave in an impulse bought it for myself. And inspired in part by how horrible the images of the Futurama Complete Collection are on Amazon, and also because it was just so over the top awesome i had to share the madness with you… this is the cutest and most bizarre DVD unboxing i’ve ever done. And the note tucked in the box with the giant head filled with DVDs is just so sweet as well… so, if you were considering the set too, trust me… it’s even awesomer in person. Go take a peek at the madness on the next page!

Futurama Season 5 Graphics

newfut1.jpg Gorgeous sunny day out, package arrives full of impulse bought Futurama and Dexter’s Laboratory from a nostalgic cartoon watching session over the weekend while catching up on life - emails - the internet. And the graphics on the Futurama Season 5 packaging were too pretty not to share. As much as my instant gratification side loves downloading, there is a definite packaging loss to the experience! So take a peek at the fun details on the next page!

Futurama: The Beast with a Billion Backs

futurama.jpgFuturama: The Beast with a Billion Backs came out last week, and i only just had time to grab a copy of the DVD today, perfect for lazy sunday watching while working. This is the second of 4 feature length epic DVDs (the first was Bender's Big Score, Bender's Game is coming Nov 2008, and The Wild Green Yonder in April 2009)... what struck be besides how fun the cartoons always are, were the great DVD packaging design and poster graphics of The Beast with a Billion Backs - in perfect retro sci-fi fashion, particularly loving the Metropolis poster parody for Bender's Big Score! Also cute are the "Carbon Neutral" Stickers on both this one as well as the first... see all the pieces in high res on the next page!
