I must admit, i was actively hunting for NotCouture, and came across the Lladro Re-Cyclos Magic Forest Ring and in my excitement posted it quickly over there... only to later discover the full Lladro Re-Cyclos Magical collection. The Magic Forest collection has handmade porcelain rings, necklaces, chokers, earrings, broaches, hairpins and even cuff links. All incredibly beautiful and naturally inspired. Also worth a peek are the Bachhus Bottle Stopper Unicorn and the Gallus Salt and Pepper Shakers... see more images below.

CLICK THE IMAGES, just like the other roundups - top row women, bottom row men. It's been less than a week since we told you about NotCouture and its certainly been taking on a style of its own! As you can see, we've been getting some GREAT submissions for both men and women, although mostly women as you can expect... so guys! help us out! We're going to keep beta testing it for a little while, but please feel free to contribute your submissions!
Next time your kid is sitting bored staring down and twisting at the edge of their shirt impatiently, why not have them look adorable in these silhouette tees and have them learn their alphabets and to read? Smart Tees by Wire and Twine print the alphabet and the name of what is on the tee upside down near the hem of the shirt just where kids can read them right side up. Adorable Dinosaur, Cow, Fairy, Train shirts... and the pic below looks like it just might be hand screened by kids for kids!
I don't usually wear jewelry, but when I do I like for it to be something pretty unique and interesting. At the moment I'm loving the jewelry by British designer Emma Franklin. It's dark and has kind of an occult feel to it. I imagine the person wearing this jewelry to be sitting by the giant fireplace in their dark, burgundy-hued library/study, flipping through an old leather-bound book, and occasionally staring out the window, deep in thought... uh, that's not weird, is it?
Anyway... thanks to "canadian-in-swedish-clothing" for bringing this to our attention on Notcouture. Some more favorites after the jump!
Apparently its mannequin hunting season. At least over at Attus Apparel, where they have just launched a limited edition series of 4 (one in each size) polos that have been Shot Up (complete with documentation of the shootings in both photo and video form). And silly as it sounds, i fully understand their thinking here... people buy cut up, distressed, destroyed jeans, tees, jackets, etc... why not polos? And with the all the murder porn on TV constantly (CSI, CSI: every other city, Law&Order and all the many spin offs)... maybe this has a chance? Either way its intriguingly hilarious from an artistic and cultural standpoint. More imagery and video from the shoot below.
YES - you can text my shirt. There are social networks online - then there is good old fashioned face to face networking. And then there is everything in between... latest comes from Textmarks + Revl Industries - the fashion house that brings you Headline Shirts, Gytha Mander, Revl - there are now Reactees... combining the genius of your tshirt as your billboard and text messaging. Someone can now stand right in front of you and get a message from your shirt via text - and you don't have to say a thing.
Ok, but in all seriousness ~ imagine the possibilities... at a club, conference, televised sports game... you can leave notes to strangers (you can textmessage and update the automated response at anytime) and future friends. You can give people a way to contact you without knowing your phone number, and you can call/text them back once they request the Reactee shirt's automated message.
I stopped by the Revl Industries HQ earlier today to pick up my shirt you see above ~ and conceptually it's fascinating... for a mere 20$ you basically get a magic code people can text and get a message from you (yes you could update this like you do twitter) AND a shirt. You could even print this code on business cards, put it on away messages,... get creative. Additionally these guys know quality and are as anal as we are about making things look gorgeous (and they are also sticklers for comfort and as eco friendly as possible)... more below! and images of their studio.
Shhhhh. This is still kind of a secret, but we need your help. So, NOTCOT.org you see our love of all things design/tech/gorgeous... and TasteSpotting feeds our addiction (because, we all need to eat! and no reason for it not to look delicious)... naturally our other obsession that didn't always fit perfectly in the other two are for our fashion/beauty indulgences. And we have quite a few!
.... so here's NOTCouture. And we need your help - we're working through some bugs (as in trying to find and squash them), we're working through the style and feel we want there (so far its all stuff we're loving and wanting), and i guess i'm just nervous about fully launching it yet... so just sharing with readers first! Love to hear your thoughts... and you can credit the gorgeous design to Shade Elaine, this one's all her! [oh, and it functions just like the others... but not help/guidelines/etc up yet]
Earnest Cut & Sew Concept Store - you can customize any of their many jeans/skirts/etc... choosing the perfect buttons, rivets, pockets... combined with gorgeous wood installations... and classic bikes (Jorg & Olif Dutch Citybikes showcase!).... and design mags. It was absolute heaven, so be prepared for many pictures below.
Funky Oysters - Camilla - Iridescent Gray, Bun Pearls, 3 Woven Strands, Short Length. No Good For Me has a discount coupon (code: FUNKYSMR) for 20% off until 06.15.07 - and i'm tempted, they've got some really fun pieces.
I never thought i'd say this, but this must be the perfect present for the teenage mom studying for SATs in your life... or your teenage babysitters... or your mail order bride. I mean, lets be honest here, its clearly not for the baby to learn some vocab early, they're barely on making sounds at that stage! But none the less, turning your child (or any child) into your human flash cards just might be crazy enough to help you score a few more points. SATees.
Granted i'm not a huge sneaker girl (although i do love my share of shoes)... i DO love packaging, and while i didn't know what to think when i first got emailed by Jason Markk... i'm quite impressed with their gorgeous packaging. Premium sneaker cleaner - in a quality mini sneaker box, with playful labeling and what resembles paint splatter and koi. And within the box... 8 oz. Premium Sneaker Solution and Sneaker Cleaning Brush. Gorgeous - see my hands on pics below - nice attention to detail.
What does a kiss LOOK like? How does what it looks like convey what it FEELS like? I'm not sure, but there is something complex and sensual about these pieces by Lola & Bailey ~ and this "The FIRST Kiss" collection. There are 5 kisses in all... here are the first four... check out Lola & Bailey to see the 5th. I discovered them through .org #4005.
Hard to believe its time for America's Cup already again ~ and checking out Style.com's nautically inspired slide show, i discovered Rogues Gallery. Gorgeous men's line for the sailors and captains in your life... and something about the combo of the line, their models, the photography... makes you swoon a little, no? Loving the graphic design... and check out the simple hoodie below as well as a few others.
Sub Urban Riot ~ i've fallen for this Extinct shirt ~ silhouettes of dinosaurs forming a skull and cross bones ~ and black and white. Also the egg of birds and the baby of mammals... more images below of their adorable dresses and site.
Antenna ~ go write it down. This is a magazine to look out for this summer! Preview issue just showed up and i'm smitten. As much as blogs amuse me, they will never replace my need for magazines... something about precise layouts, the touch and smell of paper, the way you can FLIP through a stack of pages... its not to be replaced! That being said, Antenna got my magazine excitement going again, especially since it has some fun graphic design, and reads like a mix between Lucky magazine and design magazines with a dash of the street/skate scene. (oh and its more guy slanted, but without the softcore)... this issue literally goes from A to Z as you can see in the contents page, and between the "real" articles... i'm loving their layouts for themed pages... like roundups of great glasses, cell phones, candy, condoms, bomber jackets, skateboards, and so much more... so here's a sneak peak of some of my favorite pages to keep you going until August 2007! [and the (N)EEDS- morning after section cracked me up.]
Spring has sprung, or so it feels all up and down California these days. And with spring comes spring fashion... in all its bright happy colors, fun prints, and face it... people just tend to be in better moods around the world this time of year... Gardenia Carry-All at Anthropologie.
Somewhere in the cross section of design, food, and fashion (yes, picture the ven diagram here) ~ you will find APRONS... and they are getting sexier, more playful, and far too cute to wear only in the kitchen now. I've shown you the adorable aprons of Jessie Steele before, but check out the latest selection from Anthropologie. So with all the deliciousness to learn to cook on Tastespotting, i think its time i invest in one (or two, or a few?) cooking outfits!
Mmmm York Mints... the packaging makes me drool as much as the mints i think... but on the black and white tin... as much as i love the typography of the old school tin, the Nicole Miller black and white is just gorgeous. These are a collaboration between Hersheys and Young Survival Coalition, an organization that unites young women against breast cancer.
This post goes out to RUGenius as an early bday card of sorts (she's turning the big 22 on thurs!) ~ and as the design loving, saver of animals, nearly phd having, fencer in my life... this fashion photo set by Rasmus Mogensen was too breathtaking not to feature. And there's something about swords ~ and fencing masks... dangerously playful perhaps?
Humility is no issue for these guys... Insanely Great Tees. But as i sit fighting with the ever crashing photoshop tonight, these tees caught my eye as i clean through the inbox... clean, subtle, playful, and oh so design geeky... i think the eraser is my fav right now.
There's a fine line between sweet and sinister and french line Locher's dances happily right on that edge... blending the sweet and delicately naive feel of embroidery, with sayings to force a double take and then add some gorgeous web design and brilliant photography... and i'm smitten.
"you suck" - "I don't play nice" - "fuck off" - "Life is fucked up" - "Insatiable little thing" - "Casse-pied" - "I hate children" - wow. so much can be said so beautifully. Also, love her hair!
What happens when two playful pups meet a gator? Apparently this brilliant collaborative collection from Lacoste featuring Cap & Pep of Colette fame. My favorite aspects are really the gorgeous packaging as well as the playful nature of the characters interactions on the products... see more imagery below. Via TrendsNow.
Diesel takes on global warming as only they can... making their latest campaign poignant yet subtle, stylish yet absurd. Focusing on people and places... and claiming in their video that "GLOBAL WARMING CANT STOP OUR LIVES" ~ and thus begins the series of images below, about how although the polar ice caps are melting, etc you can still look good and embrace the heat... Above we have the overgrown tropical gardens in Paris... below there are the macaws who have replaced the Venetian pigeons, warm oceans in Antarctica, the tiny island of London, a post-great-flood Rio and NY, the giant desert that surrounds the great wall, the tropical paradise of Mt. Rushmore... gorgeous imagery from the great Terry Richardson. Global Warming... as approached in a way only Diesel can. Complete with links to stopglobalwarming.org and an inconvenient truth.
WAGS Boutique ~ the british reality tv show over at ITV... " For 13 weeks, the girls (more used to maxing out their credit cards than swiping other people’s) will swap shelf-browsing for shelf-stacking as they set up and run two rival fashion boutiques in central London. From designing the stores and selecting stock to marketing and perfecting their sales technique, the ten WAGs will require determination, flair and a head for business to succeed."
Tobias Carlson and partner at M&C Saatchi London made some fun visuals to go with the show... (more below)... the Chihuahua Urinal in particular cracks me up... although i cant imagine that going over well as boys are stumbling home from the bars? Fun campaign.
