ARTIST'S STATEMENT :: Since leaving university in 2003 and hailing from a small town in the North of England Melvin has been developing his interest in recycling materials to painstakingly construct images. This has lead him to constructing lungs out of cigarette packets to portraits of famous people built out of pushpins. Melvin's work embraces playfulness and relies a lot on conceptual thinking which he finds rather enjoyable. His current work mainly consists of exploring the possibilities of the coloured sticker label a stationary classic and a material which has inspired some of his most interesting works to date.
