Click the images to find out more! Sorry i’ve been a bit quiet lately ~ the gift guides are hard! But been working all weekend to get some really fun ones ready for this week… we’re into the final 5 days today! So here’s a roundup, and i should be back to my usual posting madness in no time!
Gift Guide Day 6 ~ for this last sunday gift guide, i surprised myself and going through archives and shopping online a bit, i came up with my personal wishlist of items that didn’t make it into my other guides (in all honesty, i either want or have every item on these guides!). And as always, if you want, you can also view all of the gift guides from day 31 to 6. Can you believe there are only 5 Gift Guides to go!
Gift Guide Day 7 is all about your SNOW DAYS! Being in socal, its currently *freezing* (for a socal girl anyhow) but no snow… i kind of feel like if its going to be this cold, we might as well have the pleasure of the excuse to use a snowball chuck… anyhow, for those lucky enough, here are some toys and gadgets to have some fun with that frosty weather.
p.s. and if you don’t like it one page at a time ~ see my favorite view with all the guides so far on one page.
Click the cookies to find out more! Mmmmmm there are quite a few trends that surface on TasteSpotting and lately my cravings seem to think that it is officially cookie baking season, whether for gifting, for pleasure (yours and theirs), for kids, for family, for friends… So here are some delicious posts that have been showing up to inspire your inner baker.
I Golfini Della Nonna, USA has branched out from their Terrorism finger puppets and Gay Marriage finger puppets and just in time for the holiday season they have Political Candidate Finger Puppets! As it says on Moss: “Have your own debates. Pit your right hand against your left. Who needs Iowa or YouTube? The set consists of political candidates Barack Obama, Hillary Rodham Clinton, Fred Thompson, and Rudy Giuliani, surrounding current President George W. Bush in the dunce cap. Become part of the national discourse. And don’t forget to vote. “
Guitar + Vox + OhMiBod = Vibrator responding to the sounds of the guitar. Ever have those days where it you’re holding two objects and it suddenly *clicks* that they’re meant to be put together? Well a box of toys showed up from OhMiBod and the VOX AmPlug came on the same day, and it suddenly dawned on me that together they could be the perfect combo gift and only ~$100! [There’s a quick video if below if you don’t know what i mean.]
Ok ok, hear me out. The VOX AmPlug is perfect for electric guitarists who want to hear that beautiful full bodied sound through headphones. The OhMiBod and the more attractive and enticing new Gspot vibrate to the music connected through a headphone cable… Connect the two together ~ and its an interesting way to seriously touch someone through the music you PLAY.
We all know girls can’t resist a musician (yes, yes, protest if you must, but we all know its pretty hard?) ~ this would take that love of musician and his music to a whole new level. Also, if he is the worst guitar player ever maybe this would be a nice gift for his poor girlfriend. And for all those groupies you can even plug in more than one… Come to think of it… this *could* work out nicely for those gamer guys too, hook it up to the output of your XBOX/PC/etc and every shot you take (or when you get shot) in a shooter game will have a whole new effect?
Gift Guide Day 8 is all about indulging your vices ~ and whatever they may be, we pass no judgments… this ones focused on some products to go with your drinking, smoking, sexing, snorting, etc…
Just got a fun email from the folks at Rotor over in Brussels ~ and they’ve done some kitchen cabinetry with industrial leftovers ~ talk about a nice way to do the recycled thing! As they explain: “The paneling of the cupboards for this kitchen is made out laser-cut plywood, an industrial leftover from a company specialized in die-cutting cardboard for the packaging of luxury-goods. The wooden boards were used as punching-plates for punching out the shape of unfolded boxes from larger sheets of cardboard. We had to extract the razor-sharp knives from the slits before being able to saw the boards. This is a project of Lionel Devlieger in collaboration with Eric Van den Broucke.”
Oakley’s Minute Machine Watches have left us intrigued as to the thickness and how fun they really are in person ~ while having grown up in a house of Rolexes and Tag Heuers , i went through phases from swatches to giant crazy dive watches and for the last few years i have settled on a pretty simple steel tag for all occasions (waterproof and scratchproof faces are a necessity!). There has always been something so appealing about finding unique quality time pieces that have that rugged yet designy/unexpected edge to them… and the titanium bracelet on this Oakley is pretty sweet!
They sent over the Oakley Minute Machine Titanium Edition and i’m quite in love with all their boxes (ahhhh, gorgeous matte black packaging)… so images below of all the packaging as well as close ups of the watch to get a feel for the thickness and how it wears. On the detail i can’t get over… the carbon fiber self lubricating rings on the titanium bracelet are something you must play with if you get near one of these in person… i love the feeling of rolling your fingers over them… and the shapes of the pieces in the bracelet i find mesmerizing. (What can i say, i get inspired by the strangest littlest curves and details?)
“Digital meets analog” is the tagline for 45 iPod Cases and it carries through even to their posters (which you can earn rebates on their cases by postering for them) ~ which are very cool illustrated posters! We’ve been seeing a lot of USB/Cassette Tape integrations this season, and records and record sleeves as purses, notebook covers, fruit bowls, ash trays, etc are inevitable at every crafty/recycled/found goods store these days… but i haven’t seen the records cut and remolded for musical reasons before this! (and i do hope that the music on those records was digitized to go with the ipod before they folded and cut them up!) ~ also instead of adding the usb factor to the mix tape, its a cute idea to make it into a nano case… of course it’d be even more fun if i could somehow just stick that in my cassette player in my car? Fun designs, fun cases ~ see more images below!
Gift Guide Day 9 ~ wow can you believe its day 9 already? Well today i rounded up some of our favorite Reusable Shopping bag options ~ some we use and love, some we covet and think would certainly be more unique! And to mix things up a bit, i also picked a few fun woody accessories!
“The 24th Cartier Polo World Cup on Snow will take place from 24 to 27 January 2008. Year after year, the organizers manage to tempt the world’s very best polo players to St. Moritz. The Cartier Polo World Cup on Snow is part of the Polo World Tour, which includes the roughly thirty top tournaments that take place annually worldwide. This makes it the world’s most prestigious polo tournament on snow.” I just noticed this on Area Daily, and had to share it… and add it to the “things to see one day” list.
Indigo Snow ~ snowboards, skis, helmets, goggles, glasses, and all accessories you need… The combinations of woods, leathers, and 3d snake skin designs are unlike any i’ve ever seen before… they speak for themselves, so see my many collages below for a feel for their collection. Isn’t that green incredible? And the black snake print is beautiful as well! The helmets are just as impressive with a fusion of wood and leather, perfectly topped off with their goggles!
Can you ever be too old to learn to skateboard? Ok, wait. Don’t answer that? I grew up with a lot of friends and family heavy into the skate scene, and i was/am that girl that obsessed about the graphics and design of all the parts… but the combination of wood and gorgeous graphics on the decks at Arbor Sports just grabbed my attention tonight (while doing some sourcing for an upcoming awesome gift guide!) and the Koa Bug one has me totally smitten… and dying to get one and roll around the boardwalk or something. Funny thing is these guys are just a few minutes away in Venice Beach, and i’ve driven by them a million times going to the airport, and have still yet to stop in and check out the store… must do that soon, and get you some pics! Also with my new love, the vinyl cutter, would LOVE to get a woody board to do some stickering design of my own on! More breathtaking images below…
Gift Guide Day 10! Can you believe we’re down to the final 10 gift guide countdown? Over 20 guides up so far already? So to mix things up a bit, and for those of you who like to take it all in at once, i’ve created a new page showing you all of the gift guides page after page, just scroll to shop your way through! And for those who like them one at a time, well today’s is still available in that form here.
Today is all about Culinary Gadgetry! Regardless of how much or little someone may cook these are some gorgeous design tools that help get the job done and in a really fun way. And as an extra little something, i needed to run the TasteSpotting survey this week, so anyone who wants a chance to win a Pentax Optio W30 Digicam, please answer the last question with your email! I wasn’t sure what a good prize would be, but since TasteSpotting is as much about great images of food as it is about cooking it… i thought a waterproof digital camera would be a fun one to survive any and all messes in the kitchen! Covered in goo? Falls in a pot? Just rinse it off!
