Insanely Great Tees

insanelygreat.jpg
Humility is no issue for these guys… Insanely Great Tees. But as i sit fighting with the ever crashing photoshop tonight, these tees caught my eye as i clean through the inbox… clean, subtle, playful, and oh so design geeky… i think the eraser is my fav right now.

Baby be of use

babydostuff.jpg
SwissMiss has been finding the BEST baby stuff… for people like us. Things like McSweeny’s “Baby Be of Use” series by Lisa Brown. I still have no babies, but am tempted to order this set of board books (there’s something so satisfying about flipping board book pages)… for future babies, for babies who might visit, for potentially brilliant babies i might meet in airplanes… But seriously, this maybe the the perfect way to leave a hint for that special someone that you want to make you breakfast, make you a drink, fix your car, or help with the banking.

Porter Airlines

portermain.jpg
Fly Porter Airlines… toronto’s frisky little airline (looks like their jet blue equiv)… the part that made me swoon today was its mascot raccoon creature (can we say cutest favicon ever?)… and nice clean branding/layouts on the site… screenshots below. And apparently it is the handiwork of Tyler Brule of wallpaper fame and now monocle (the man of the hour on the design/blog scene?)…

Bell Jars

belljars.jpg
So, Shade Elaine and i were at a home depot yesterday… and we came across some fun little venus fly traps (here’s my pic on radar)… which got us into chatting about what a fun way to display it would be… leading her on a quest for the ultimate glass bubble or bell jar… so for our reference and yours, here are some fun ones she found…

West Elm - Glass Cloche Hurricanes
Pottery Barn - Glass Domes
Anthropologie - the botanist’s bell jar

UPS Whiteboard Cont’d

upswhiteboardnew.jpg
Slight continuation to the UPS Whiteboard post from the other day… Remember the billboards i mentioned i didn’t have a good pic of? Well apparently the interactive agency responsible for the campaign is Atlanta based IQ Interactive, and Amelia of IQ was kind of enough to track down and send over some pics (that billboard is right in LA off the 405!).

De Lessio Bubble Wrap

bubblewrapmain.jpg
Bubble Wrap and chocolate lovers rejoice! Latest discovery in SF that i’m addicted to… De Lessio’s Bubble Wrap Chocolate. It’s incredible. Addictive. SO SO GOOD. Picked up slabs of the 72% Dark Chocolate with Peet’s Espresso Beans, Bittersweet with Almond and Raisins, and Milk Chocolate with Peanut Butter. But visually its fascinating that it really does look like bubble wrap (with deflated bubbles)… the real question is… do they pour their chocolate on bubble wrap? is it some crazy mold? how does it work?

Whiteboard ~ UPS

upswhiteboard.jpg
Whiteboards, i can’t imagine life without them. That said, have you noticed the GIANT billboard white boards (complete with giant brown dry erase marker) popping up around town? All a part of UPS’ latest Whiteboard campaign on tv and billboards everywhere. I can’t believe i can’t find one quickly to post here tonight, so feel free to share, i keep meaning to take a pic, but haven’t had opportune times while driving by them lately…

Some interesting ads and parodies (youtubes below for your viewing pleasure)… also fun trivia ~ “It turns out that after The Martin Agency looked at 1,000 potential actors, they decided to use their own creative director, Andy Azula.” (according to Digital Roam)… also i can’t decide if its cute or too much that they are using the postal service song… Fun site as well.

Bloomframe

bloomframe.jpg
Recently been apartment/condo/loft shopping ~ and one of my biggest priorities are sunlight and big windows and balcony/patios/roofdecks. Too bad i can’t simply pop in a Bloomframe from Hofman Dujardin Architecten in Amsterdam. As a two in one, balcony and window, the design gives “the possibility to use the surface of an apartment to the maximum.” More imagery of it in different angles below.

ISAK

isak.jpg
Doesn’t that adam and eve plate just put a smile on your face? Something about the simplicity of the design, and the vibrant red… and those animals on the kids cups? Havidol

havidol.jpg
Ever have a day where “more just isn’t enough”? Havidol is apparently the solution. This latest project by Justine Cooper reminds me of projects during undergrad ~ the full fledged mock site ~ this one complete with print ads, tv adverts, even the pill design, and jackets, shirts, etc.

Havidol is the first and only treatment for dysphoric social attention consumption deficit anxiety disorder (DSACDAD). What a mouthful. But i love these projects that really make you laugh first, then stop and think about the absurdity and even the similarity to reality today… scariest part, you know you wouldn’t look twice if you saw that ad in a magazine today… it is just as ridiculous as many of the legit pharma campaigns now.

View more of the project at Daneyal Mahmood Gallery ~ (especially the animated ad ~ its brilliant) ~ and the Havidol Website.

G Pure Orange Blossom

gpomain.jpg
Nothing beats one of those rainy doldrum days quite like an unexpected package waiting outside the door. Especially one quite so SHINY. And actually, when it contains energy drinks, that certainly helps one perk up quite nicely. G Pure Energy and those brilliant VOSS designers sent over this large shiny volume that when opened exposes two of their latest flavor - Orange Blossom. I just chugged the first one while typing and photoshopping this, and it is the best flavored energy drink i’ve tried yet. But then again, i maybe be a bit biased, since i do love a good orange flavored drinks… More images below of the fun packaging as well as some random shots for my rainy day amusement.

Lochers

lochers.jpg
There’s a fine line between sweet and sinister and french line Locher’s dances happily right on that edge… blending the sweet and delicately naive feel of embroidery, with sayings to force a double take and then add some gorgeous web design and brilliant photography… and i’m smitten.

“you suck” - “I don’t play nice” - “fuck off” - “Life is fucked up” - “Insatiable little thing” - “Casse-pied” - “I hate children” - wow. so much can be said so beautifully. Also, love her hair!

Tastespotting Penthouse

penthousemain.jpg
Today is Tastespotting’s 1 month anniversary, and the first of hopefully many exclusive Tastespotting dinners to come. Tonight we descended upon the Penthouse at the Huntley in Santa Monica, and we couldn’t have picked a better night. With such a clear night, the view was absolutely breathtaking… something about being 18 floors up discussing great design, delicious delicacies, and the future of notcot was just surreal. The Penthouse only opened about a week and a half ago, so it was fun to break in a new neighborhood spot even younger than our month old Tastespotting. Quick snapshots below of the aspects of the night that grabbed me most…
