Intel MacTop

macbookpro.jpg

Yes yes everyone has it as the news of the day, so here goes the band wagon jumping. MACBOOK PRO - new mactop with the crazy magnetic (awesome for people tripping on your cable) power cord and the built in i-sight… and all the other bells and whistles. Don’t get me wrong, yes i want one, and yes i’m feeling a bit jaded about apple as well. But go check it out if you haven’t already done so,

Moleskinery

dsc_0796mkb.jpgYes i admit i’m a moleskine lover. There is something about their clean timeless designs, and i love the thick paper for sketching and scribbling. And the elastic. It is SO all about the elastic and that back pocket… Anyhow, not sure how i got to this site, but somehow ended up at this Moleskinery blog… and find it quite amusing… and these cute little 1” buttons to show your moleskine love (and they are just kind of pretty)… 5$ for the 9 set…

MarieBelle

mariebelle.jpg
Friend gave me some of this incredible Aztec Hot Chocolate from Marie Belle for my birthday, and the combination of gorgeous packaging (something about that vibrant robin’s egg blue and chocolate brown) and delicious chocolate mini drops that are irresistable. Upon visiting the website, i was also delighted to find the designer chocolates and fine china, with equally compelling illustrations and attention to detail. If the chocolates are even half as good as the imagery and hot chocolate, this might become a must stop next time i’m in NY.

Worlds Largest Plasma

1031080p.jpg On CES… a major theme certainly was the “My PLASMA is bigger than your PLASMA”… and the hands down winner was definitely the Panasonic 103” World’s Largest… and while you all may have heard from those boys of Gizmodo and Engadget and such… it is HUGE, but i just have to tell you all that it is a work of art. As for the mine is bigger than yours (oh and the worlds biggest isn’t even 1080p - another one of the big competitions between booths)… nothing smaller than a 60 catches my eye anymore. CES has left me jaded on what is considered a large TV.

XBOX 360 LIVE?

xbox.jpgOk kids, after CES, destressing with XBOX 360 Live silliness. And not to be silly, but don’t know too many folks with one… so readers… who has one? you? want to play? DOA? PGR? (and sometimes Madden, but football and i are not such a good combo, but learning) Anyhow, i’m notcot there too… =)

But this is a picture from the XBOX display over at the MASSIVE MS section at CES… so more to post on that later. But on the XBOX 360 and the whole LIVE thing… it pains me to admit it is pretty freaking sweet. Well laid out, games are pretty fun, and it is kind of nice just sitting back listening to your personal music (from your media center) and chatting with your friends (or talking shit depending on the game and such) The skinning is quite pretty, and you can customize them. But at the moment i am just obsessed with how beautiful the project gotham racing tracks are, check out the detail when you manage to slow down, the people and environment actually reacting to you… ahhh. ok come play with me already. Real CES posts to come.

ENJOY

enjoy_large.jpgAs far as late night mini posts go, just needed to share this quote from the side of this gift box i recieved from RUGenius…

Enjoy: it is not how much we have, but how much we enjoy, that makes happiness. [Charles Haddon Spurgeon]

This Enjoy set by Neal’s Yard Remedies of Covent Garden London, contains Soothing Bath Oil 100ml, Jasmine Enriching Cream 20g, Elderflower Hand Softener 20g, and Comfrey & Mallow Foot Balm 20g… all of their products are all natural, and it is one of my favorite indulgences whenever i wander over to that side of the pond. You can always recognize their products by their signature blue glass bottles and that old style tree emblem.

PG Tips

product_grommitMug.jpg Shade Elaine just pointed out that PG Tips are the first pyramid tea bags she remembers. And while browsing their site we found this cute little Grommit Mug… “Free with every special pack of PG Tips 160s - while stocks last. Who ‘nose’ what special surprise your canine chum has waiting for you next time you brew up.” Cute.

Revolution Tea

revolutiontea.jpg
Revolution Tea has these incredible pyramid tea bags… not only unique and aesthetically pleasing to sight, taste, smell, but also good for the environment. This revolutionary tea bag is woven from 100% polylactic acid mono-filament yarn and is 100% biodegradable.

I also came across their Single Serving Boxes of their tea bags at a coffee stand, and it has a beautiful display case with all of these little 2”x1”x1” (approx?) boxes… very cute, purse sized, and their teas come in The Revolution Infuser Tea Bag™, which allows you a clear view of the whole leaf teas you
are enjoying.

Black Hoodies

witz.jpg
Dan Witz’s Hoodie series of street art stickers. This one is for Dayv. There’s just something so iconic about black hoodies, and at the moment i would love nothing more than to escape into the shadows in one… it has that invisibility cloak feeling, that people don’t see you and move away from you when you have that hood up. Your shield from the world.

Witz on the Hoodys “The Hoodys came from a dark period in the early nineties. Drugs, HIV, poverty/despair/danger were like a pall of doom over the lower east side (my neighborhood). The grim reaper hoody posters were inspired by plague attitudes from the middle ages and deer x-ing signs—the way the hi way dept. puts up those yellow diamond with black deer silhouettes as warning signs.”

Also… these street hummingbirds are gorgeous.

AMKA

bachecorbiau3.jpg
Came across AMKA shop “beyond style” today, and fell in love with their prints. Their online shop displays large scale designer posters printed on tarpaulin or plastified couch paper, and are limited edition (only 200 prints each). In a la fraise style design, you can submit your images for voting on these prints, in addition to their already selected designer pieces. Additionally, there are t-shirts and polos available: take a look at the dark angel shirt.

“AMKA is a registered trade mark (in France, INPI, 2004) of Thomas Gayet who is a graphic designer (27 years old) and the founder of the company Spiritvibes (http://www.spiritvibes.com) which he established in 2001. Spiritvibes is a multimedia agency. Amkashop is a product of Spiritvibes. Amkashop is the realization of a childhood dream. We made it for several reasons but the main one is really because we love clothes and designer posters. All our products are orginal and limited editions (200 prints of each only), Amkashop is offering you clothes and posters that you can’t find elsewhere !”

TURBO wall art

jellio.pngTURBO wall art- $2,500.00… Look, they say it so well on the site, who am i to mess with perfection:: Remember Revell models? They were the plastic car kits we used to put together when we were young, with a little glue and a lot of patience. We’ve taken inspiration from those classic toys to create TURBO, a one-of-a-kind wall sculpture from Jellio Design.

Based on the sprue element the model parts were atached to, TURBO is the first in a series of limited-edition pieces designed to evoke many fond memories from childhood. We’re only making ten of these, so you know you’ll have something truly unique. It’s guaranteed to become the topic of countless hours of conversation in any home. Design: Mario Marsicano, Chris Lenox - Sculpting/casting: Kevin Champeny, Leonid Filitsyan - Manufacturer: Utleys Incorporated, New York - Materials: Aluminum-filled polyurethane resin - Finishing:
Metallic Silver - Mounting: 3 flush-mounted brackets (comes w/template) - Weight: Approx. 40 lbs - Size: 44” x 44”, 3/4 inch off the wall

Belgian Santas

belgiansantas.jpg
BELGIAN SANTAs!!! Yes i admit i haven’t been so ho ho ho this season. But this just made my holiday season… my favorite holiday memory of being in belgium was these hanging santa guys! And the Palais des Beaux-Arts de Bruxelles, went all out with this facade du “BOZAR”. Found this on Kezako. Ah santas. Hahaha. Sorry, i can’t get over this one. This goes out to Pierre.

Time is on my side

jaeger_romanelli_watch.jpg If you know me, you know how much I love scissors. They hold a personal significance, and remind me of something I should never forget. With the arrival of the new year, I also need to be reminded not to waste time, and what better way to combine those two than with this awesome Jaeger-LeCoultre & Dr. Romanelli watch?

From the Jager-LeCoultre & Dr Romanelli site:
Two very different strands of style culture have intertwined to invent a modern classic. Opening the year of celebrations around the seventy-fifth birthday of perhaps the most well-known watch of all time—the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso—L.A.-based ‘cult customiser’ Dr Romanelli has collaborated with the esteemed Swiss watchmakers Jaeger-LeCoultre to produce two exclusive versions of the timepiece with the famous rotating case.

FWIS

squarewolf.jpg
The designers at FWIS have some fun stuff going on. I used to have a fascination with book covers, well i still do, but not to the same level… These guys have a great Book Covers site, which to my delight has a few i’ve looked at and considered noteworthy covers in bookstore passings. Additionally they also design some great shirts via Squarewolf, my two favorites shown here being the evolved world wildlife federation logo, and the bell curve shirt (of course the bell curve shirt is a bit ironic, seeing as for someone to understand the shirt they too are probably in the arrow section of the curve)
