Sexiest Store on Earth?

aff2.jpgIndulgences, everyone has one… or two or three… Intimissimi was one of mine while in Milan. That simple/cute/affordable lingerie store that was on practically every other corner… the offshoot of calzedonia (socks and stockings and such). They have nice basics and adorables for occaisions, all cute while still keeping a very italian feel to it.

Anyhow, i digress. You can get the goods in the states now! Victoria’s Secret is opening the “Sexiest Store on Earth” according to their flyer May 25th at the Forum Shops at Ceasars in Vegas… showing exclusive never before seen collections including intimissimi, as well as Chantal Thomass (french couture lingerie designer) and an Adults Only intimate collection of Sexy Little Things (whatever that may mean?).Their grand opening events start May 25th… from freebies with purchase, to meeting Gisele.

Plant-X-ray

16x20-Energy-Field--1997.jpgArt = Access… sometimes, but in this case definitely! It’s not easy to get access to x-ray machines to make fun art. I can only imagine how much fun i could have with one?

But here, found by La Petite Claudine, we have:

The work of photographer Judith K. McMillan takes the examination of plants to a new realm. Using an X-ray machine as her camera, McMillan photographs the internal structures of plants, revealing the beauty of natural forms invisible to the human eye. Judith McMillan’s images are ephemeral, eerie, and beautiful. The gladioli, poppies, water lilies, orchids, locust seeds and ferns that become the focus of her work take on a strangely translucent life, opening our minds to an alternate view of reality.

FlightPod

flightpod.pngDeutsch FlightWear iPod cases… cute iconography pulling from flying, with mix and match colors (ok simply red, blue, black). Cute idea, nice site graphics, nice chill music playing on their flash that i’m half awakingly listening to…

So far all the fun Deutsch sites i end up at have fun little videos of their products being featured on tv or some show. This one does too, crazy fashionistas with their ipod cases… watch the video. Also, it’s decently priced at 19 Euro.

Found this one on Gustomela. More images after.

TOHYTO

SP00.jpgTohyto is one of the many artists that produced limited edition work for Coachella. Among the many tents of music, merch, and food, was the “Coachella Boutique” featuring limited edition artist creations, mostly tee shirt art, but also featuring posters, scarves, a soccer jersey, and a vinyl bag. In addition to the limited edition pieces, their main logo/shirt designs for this year were clean and slightly retro (using a lot of cassette and record imagery, as well as a fun image with the polo players on horses swinging guitars).

Artists featured were Saiman Chow, Upso, Tohyto, Quique Rangel, Chase, Gama-Go, Jon Santos, Tara McPherson, Edoardo Chavarin & Luis Diaz. If people are interested in seeing some of the designs i can scan in the mini catalog. Additionally Super Lucky Cat created a few vintage/de-re-constructed tees from ‘99 Coachella shirts.

The image shown is a variation of the Tohyto shirt i bought (which had the crazy guitar guy in color on a dark grey American Apparel shirt.

Low Clothing

lowhat.jpglowclothing.jpgLow Clothing… another Coachella find… with the blazing hot desert sun all weekend, this fun trucker hat was a godsend. Also check out their cute logo with the flying bird man? In lieu of a business card, they had stickers of the little guy, who now adorns my sketchbook. Something harry potter-esque about him, no?

As for the hat, something simple understated “fall” like about it, and nice color choices… also looking forward to their new site, especially so you can all see their fun shirts and other merchandise as well, if i recall correctly they have some nice animal/sketch-style shirts that were pretty sweet. Cardboard Robot

Cardboardrobot.jpgCARDBOARD ROBOT! (l-r) Total Recall (our governator), fuzzy antler hoody, Panic Is Your Enemy (Artic and Subartic Survival, Figure 15-3. Prevent snow blindness. /Improvised cardboard sunglasses), Greetings from California, Coolest Silkscreened/Cardboard chair yet.

So this is one of the Coachella posts, the guys from Cardboard Robot had a funky little irresistable booth out at the festival, and by the end of saturday night i caved and bought the Panic Is Your Enemy shirt, they are fun, they have more meaning than simply silly t-shirts… they started with an 8mm short film that focused on excessive age of technology.

In short, i love these guys! More reasons why? They have lots of shirts in girls sizes (too many a time we encounter great designs that either don’t have girl versions, or they don’t work well on a smaller scale). And anyone who can play in the digital age and still be passionate about the possibilities of X-acto knives and cardboard is high on my list. Cardboard Robot

p.s. did i mention they also have little buttons on each shirt? I’m a sucker for those tiny shiny buttons.

Hammer Bank

gmail.jpgToronto store “UP TO YOU” pointed me towards this great “piggy bank” they carry… that is coins+piggy+hammer minus the piggy

Yea basically is a hammer shaped coin bank, where when you need to retrieve/spend/empty your account, instead of taking a hammer to it, you simply grasp the wooden handle and break accordingly.

Looks like fun. I don’t know if i could resist the temptation to break it long enough to save up to even buy another hammer bank! Great gift idea?

Non-Absolut Tube

tube.jpgI always knew the Tube wasn’t built in the shape of an absolut bottle like the picture shows!… obviously. This is a great map to help you realize/visualize how far apart the stations really are, and what paths and distances you are travelling. Great idea, also a lot of other variations here. [but to be fair, the geographical map does show that the Tube is in a more Dali-esque shaped bottle]

Buffalos Roam

buffalo.184.1650.jpg buffalo.184.2.650.jpg
These are life becoming art… in Pikesville, Maryland… see NYTimes. The images are just priceless, truly capturing what i always wondered home on the range meets suburbia would function like. I will now count the buffalo jumping tennis nets when i can’t fall asleep at night.

UPDATE: thanks to jus, new pics on the NYTimes… and additional information that’s heart breaking…

But they gave their owner one headache too many. Gerald Berg, who raised the bison on his cattle farm in Stevenson, started his day by jumping on an all-terrain vehicle and chasing the escaped animals. Mr. Berg has been raising bison for about eight years, he said, but no more.By midday, as the last of the bison were being herded into the trailer, Mr. Berg had decided their fate.“It’s out of hand,” he said. “They’re going to the slaughterhouse, and they’re going to be buffalo burgers.”

Can you believe it? I wish we had the means to have people adopt them or something… or move them to some wide ranging space… poor things, NO WONDER THEY RAN AWAY!

Pubic Bling

580_0_LB0604-04403_back.jpgThank you, Google. For finding ads on Pubic Stencils to go with my post on men’s facial razors, and picking up on the implied use of such a tool for women. Not only did they find the use for such a razor on women, they took it a step further to link us to LoopNYC’s PerVersion Pubic Stencil Set complete with “bling” rhinestones [in the fashion of as-seen-on-tv Bling It On]

Who DOES this? Is it HOT? or Freaky? or just a hilarious present… or as they suggest, a “group” activity?

Transmitting TOOTH?

1470_02.jpgFascinating idea written up in Gizmag… Audio Tooth.

Recently on show at the London Science Museum, the audio tooth concept is set to expand dentistry well beyond the realm of fillings, extractions and canal work . A tiny implant consisting of a wireless receiver and a micro-vibration unit that uses bone resonance to convert digital signals received from a mobile telephone, radio or computer into vibrations or “sound” that reach the inner ear via the jawbone. This creates a totally discreet line of audio communication that can be heard by no one except the user - very useful on the floor of the stock exchange, in theatres, sporting fields, covert operations, or in a host of situations where fast and confidential exchanges of information are necessary.

Can you imagine what types of problems this could cause in schools where cell phones and mp3 players are already being banned? or combine it with an eye that shows what you see to others, while others talk directly into your head via “tooth”? A whole new world of problems for ETS.

CruZer3

cruzer.jpgBraun CruZer… “shave, style, trim, 3-in-1” Not being a boy, and having to shave facial hair, this was just fun looking design wise, has a sweet swivel styler for various countours, beard trimmer and floating shave head that looks funky/compact and they are marketing it for the outdoorsy sporty type. [Also cool you can just wash the whole thing]… but the fun reason why i’m posting it other than its aesthetic is it’s interesting site [see image below], it teachs you how to create different styles… i never really paid attention to how many styles of male facial hair there were, and their diagrams were nice and clean… you can even create “virtual styles” trying out shapes on an uploaded image of yourself.

So as a girl, with curiosity… i now wish i had a guy who would let me experiment with this… [kind of like Carl letting me pick haircuts and such at the barbers at GTA just to try them on]… or i suppose girls can use these too, and shape and style other areas.

Octopi-lets

vert.octopus.baby.ap.jpgHow did no one ever show me how cute baby octopi are? While the news story is about how at the last moment before scientists were about to give up on and octopus and her eggs… the most enticing part of the article is this image.
