Tonight i went themed on our roundup for the week ~ top row, unusual frozen goods were trendy on TasteSpotting, from margarita popsicles and frozen eggs to Raw Banana Mango Malted Ice Cream with Agave Caramel… in the middle row, from NOTCOT.org had quite a nice selection of Architecture showing up this week… and finally, from NotCouture here is an assortment of bags, trunks, and ‘waterproof backpack reviews’!

Click the images to find out more! Hey everyone, sorry i got quiet this weekend. To be completely honest with you, i’m just having a bit of a hard time with things right now, and its been a rough last few weeks particularly, and overall the last few months have really been catching up with me it seems… trying to officially take a vacation this week… but unlike most sites that go on vacation, shopping/hunting/browsing/sharing/posting inspiring things IS what makes me happy, so posts will probably pick up after i get some brunch today, whereas emails (especially the bitchy ones) will probably have even slower responses than normal, meetings/conference calls probably won’t be happening (other than the really fun pre-planned ones)… essentially anything that “feels” like “work” i’m not available for this week! Check back May 1st if you’re looking for that stuff, where hopefully i’ll get myself relaxed and ready to do the whole “business” thing again. And for those who clearly can’t seem to understand this - i just need a break, so feel free to resume the painful/not fun stuff May 1st.

OK - personal rant done. Just wanted to get that out there for the people who don’t seem to understand the current situation, but seem to see public posting as making something “real”. I’m having one of those Mondays that already feels like a thursday… the week can’t end fast enough, yet its just begun. Also, its the week where i kick myself for not being in Milan for design week, not that i should have been there this year, seeing as i’m slightly over swamped with obligations at the moment anyhow. Good news for you, is part of that is due to a pile of really cool stuff i’m dying to post (the fun part of my life, um… “work”)… BUT for a random fun post before i get sit down in this crazy summery heatwave weather, i just wanted to say thanks to Veuve Clicquot for making today just a tiny bit more fun with their surprise delivery of a bottle of bubbly to help Milan coverage go a bit smoother this week. Yay for snail mail… a few more silly pics after the jump (although i do like how the pirate bronto in the apple is now in the glass up there)… back to regularly scheduled rants of designer inspiration and amusements!

How very surreal tonight has been. After much hmmming and hawwwwing… i ended up at one of those LA massive clubs (Vanguard)… and it didn’t really LOOK like clubbing in LA… it was a super techy/web 2.0 crowd having their incestuous circles and drama… supposedly for networking/matchmaking of every sort… yet you could barely talk to someone without screaming… it was cool to run into lots of random people and hide out at a dive bar after… there were some screens set up for sponsors to show off their companies… but they were impossible to get near and then understand what was going on… but that’s ok, because there was massive twittering of who was where and waving to who and doing what constantly… and Perry Ferrell (of Jane’s Addiction fame) was djing (see flickr VIDEO here)… and i get home and my mind/body is so confused… it was a night out in hollywood, yet it doesn’t at ALL feel like a night out in hollywood. This was the scene that was the TechCrunch + PopSugar “cocktail party”…

So much tech. But i did get a few fun crazy colored pictures of the bizarre scene from the upstairs window by the room where engage was matchmaking… no, seriously. Stickers read - single, taken, matchmaker… and people were actually meeting potentials! Ok so super techy sidetrack over ~ ready to go back to more designy themed events! Click the images to find out more! Roundup Time! I just found out tomorrow was a bank holiday… apparently its Caesar Chavez Day? So i guess its a long weekend! (Not that life on the internet really takes weekends.) Anyhow, its been a fun week across the network, with everything from - skulls hidden in black and white line drawings, a hilarious record of a hipster teaching you “how to speak hip”, a viral game in the making where you tilt your laptop to drive a motorcycle, a man with the patience to drill insane holes into egg shells, elephants carrying spy cams, backless bras that atatch like a baby carrier, egg filled nest cupcakes, and so much more… see the full roundups after the jump!

…and for TasteSpotting news, the Daring Bakers have just struck again with their latest March Challenge: Dorie’s Perfect Party Cake, and the best are popping up as we speak… fascinating to see how all these different people have interpreted the same recipe.

Rumor has it i’ve been a bit of a workaholic the last few months, and lacking at indulging my inherent wanderlust… so today was supposed to be a quick drive up to SF from LA with dan, but one thing led to another and it became a spontaneous roadtrip/adventure - leading to everything from lunch in a danish town (solvang) - trying danish pancake balls (aebleskiver) - feeding ostriches and emus - a giant tree stump turned treehouse/pirateship on the side of the road in a tile/bricklaying yard - 1797 Mission San Miguel Arcangel - driving by Hearst Castle - seeing beaches filled with elephant seals - cruising up the coast through state parks on cliff hanging roads to big sur - stopping off to admire the view constantly - buying 99 cent chips for $1.79 (cliff view markup?) - seeing otters playing so far below they looked like tiny dots - sunset in Big Sur - martinis and dinner watching the sun fully disappear - and now i’m in Monterey Bay in a luscious king sized bed overlooking Cannery Row and the ocean as i try to get this post up as my photo excuse as to why the posting and editing was a bit quiet today.

Tomorrow ~ Monterey Bay Aquarium and then back to regularly scheduled working… but for now, catch up on the roadtrip in pics first (as well as a full map of where i’ve been and where i’m headed)?

Happy Pi Day ~ and for all of you who wonder where all these crazy posts and ideas and inspiration come from… well for the sake of my amusement, here’s something silly i ended up with tonight (blame the lack of sleep and insanity that is LA this week… also Linhchi brought me a sun jar and combine that with my vinyl cutter…. ) Naturally all the craziness that you see propagating across the network comes from somewhere! But where? My glowing jar full of NOTCOTs! (Whatever a NOTCOT may be, that, as surprising as it is to most, is still quite unknown). So for today’s random project, NOTCOTs are like fireflies, visual manifestations of all the crazy inspiration lighting us up?

Ok, so basically, Sun Jar+ Vinyl Cutter = Jar of NOTCOTs (and this will probably continue to evolve into other ideas…) Also, on Sun Jars, although i’ve gifted and recommended these solar powered glowing jars often, this is the first time i’ve been gifted one! And i must say for the next one i gift, i will ditch the packaging, personalize it in some subtle way for the recipient, and present it as simply the jar, with a beautiful ribbon to tie a notecard on.
