Hard to believe its time for America’s Cup already again ~ and checking out Style.com’s nautically inspired slide show, i discovered Rogues Gallery. Gorgeous men’s line for the sailors and captains in your life… and something about the combo of the line, their models, the photography… makes you swoon a little, no? Loving the graphic design… and check out the simple hoodie below as well as a few others.
Mid-April seems to be a big time for launches at Target ~ or next week i mean! At least in the gorgeously designed affordable grooming products (adding to their Boots imports and Sonia Kashuk lines). As mentioned on .org last week, Method is launching their Bloq line - as reported by Happy Mundane - “It will be available in four formats: body wash, lotion, shave cream, and bar soap. The Bloq line is naturally derived, biodegradable, paraben-free, and has not been tested on animals. There will also be four scents that have been designed to match four moods: green mint for the “go getter”, water flower for the “pure minimalist”, beach sage for the “escape artist”, and citron leaf for the “eternal optimist.”
Additionally, men.style.com just announced that Every Man Jack ~ will also be launching at Target- saying ” No item is more than $4.99. And, unlike your dad’s soap on a rope, Every Man Jack products forgo dyes and old-school preservatives for a more natural approach. Body Wash uses only nondrying natural surfactants instead of the potent chemicals found in drugstore brands; Shave Gel lubricates with aloe and natural glycerin and has chamomile and vitamin E to soothe razor burn; and Face Lotion is oil-free and noncomedogenic. The California-based upstart also offers shampoo, conditioner, face wash, and pomade, all available in a pleasantly minty signature scent, plus cedarwood, tea tree, or fragrance-free.”
I’ll admit it: I’m a sucker for skincare products. I’m an even bigger sucker for skincare products with simple yet thoughtful packaging. Bonus points if the product is natural. 4mula pretty much takes the cake. Their products are environmentally friendly on many levels, and they’re all about “Farms. Not Pharms.” On 04/04/07 4mula turned three years old, and they are celebrating by offering free shipping on orders of $100 or more in the month of April. International orders get a free gift. A company this environmentally aware and design-conscious deserves many happy birthdays.
I found the Le Labo “Olfactionary” on the Barneys site and immediately thought of Perfume: The Story of a Murderer by Patrick Suskind, the book responsible for making me wonder about and appreciate the perfume-making process. The Olfactionary is a collection of forty 2.5 mL bottles, each filled with natural essences which are the principal scents in perfumes. They also include olfactory keys (blotters) for sampling the scents.
I love the the minimal look of Le Labo’s packaging, especially the lab-like labels which are pretty appropriate because really… it’s just chemicals. Each perfume is made to order, and the label is customized for you.
Remember when beck’s latest album had the DIY sticker album art? Well he had some great stickers from my favorite artist, Genevieve Gaukler, and now from the folks at Jeremeyville have a limited edition Sketchel, featuring art from Beck and Gaukler. “After many emails and calls between Sydney, Paris and LA, Beck, Genevieve and the Sketchel crew arrived at this limited edition shoulder bag which is available at the online store. Genevieve created a design specifically for this project, incorporating her iconic black figures into a Beck landscape on a heavy canvas that is housed within the bag front flap.”
Spring has sprung, or so it feels all up and down California these days. And with spring comes spring fashion… in all its bright happy colors, fun prints, and face it… people just tend to be in better moods around the world this time of year… Gardenia Carry-All at Anthropologie.
This post goes out to RUGenius as an early bday card of sorts (she’s turning the big 22 on thurs!) ~ and as the design loving, saver of animals, nearly phd having, fencer in my life… this fashion photo set by Rasmus Mogensen was too breathtaking not to feature. And there’s something about swords ~ and fencing masks… dangerously playful perhaps?
Humility is no issue for these guys… Insanely Great Tees. But as i sit fighting with the ever crashing photoshop tonight, these tees caught my eye as i clean through the inbox… clean, subtle, playful, and oh so design geeky… i think the eraser is my fav right now.
Oooooh. Stella McCartney’s Spring/Summer 07 line with Adidas just launched… and i’m lusting for the bikini and the tennis bag…
There’s a fine line between sweet and sinister and french line Locher’s dances happily right on that edge… blending the sweet and delicately naive feel of embroidery, with sayings to force a double take and then add some gorgeous web design and brilliant photography… and i’m smitten.
“you suck” - “I don’t play nice” - “fuck off” - “Life is fucked up” - “Insatiable little thing” - “Casse-pied” - “I hate children” - wow. so much can be said so beautifully. Also, love her hair!
What happens when two playful pups meet a gator? Apparently this brilliant collaborative collection from Lacoste featuring Cap & Pep of Colette fame. My favorite aspects are really the gorgeous packaging as well as the playful nature of the characters interactions on the products… see more imagery below. Via TrendsNow.
Diesel takes on global warming as only they can… making their latest campaign poignant yet subtle, stylish yet absurd. Focusing on people and places… and claiming in their video that “GLOBAL WARMING CANT STOP OUR LIVES” ~ and thus begins the series of images below, about how although the polar ice caps are melting, etc you can still look good and embrace the heat… Above we have the overgrown tropical gardens in Paris… below there are the macaws who have replaced the Venetian pigeons, warm oceans in Antarctica, the tiny island of London, a post-great-flood Rio and NY, the giant desert that surrounds the great wall, the tropical paradise of Mt. Rushmore… gorgeous imagery from the great Terry Richardson. Global Warming… as approached in a way only Diesel can. Complete with links to stopglobalwarming.org and an inconvenient truth.
On interesting trends ~ the bird/nature inspired trend doesn’t seem to be fading anytime soon, and an interesting emerging trend are the use of feathers (to go with the many bird silhouettes we’ve been seeing the last man months?)… Turtle Dove Feather Headband at Free People. It adds an interesting texture to the look, so natural, yet so controlled, and a nice contrast in the black and white. They also have two peacock feather variations.
