DWR Tools For Living Santa Monica- 10.01.08

dwrtflmain.jpgDWR’s second Tools For Living store launches tomorrow, and i just popped into the Santa Monica store for a quick press preview… it is GORGEOUS. And in this heat wave, you won’t want to leave the lovely, spacious, air conditioned store filled with designer goodies that are fully functional in your everyday life!

While i can’t even imagine picking all of my favorites and temptations from the store quite yet (perhaps we’ll save that for the gift guide!) ~ i couldn’t help myself when taking pics, and ended up with about 30 on the next page to give you a feel for the store in person. There really is something so great about being able to spin around a store ooohing and ahhhhing about products i’ve only seen online, or have been unable to find in the US that i saw at foreign trade shows. So especially for those who aren’t close enough to pop into the DWR Tools For Living Santa Monica or SoHo stores, take a browse at the gallery on the next page! With holiday shopping around the corner, i can already tell this will be one of my new last minute gift stops…

How cool is this Neuton Battery-Powered Lawn Mower? My favorite detail is the lizard pattern the wheels leave….

For the first time all year, I wish I wasn’t living in Japan! The store looks AWESOME! Next time I’m in the States, I’m SO going shopping here!

i like dwr. i love the furniture they sell. no problem. but “tools for living”? more like “really cool useless crap for living”. call it what it is, dwr!

RNDavis ~

While i do agree with your mixed feelings on DWR, i must admit, i’m quite impressed with the curation and pricing of this new Tools for Living section. As for the finding something “awfully similar for far less” ~ for tools for living, looks they they are sourcing more of the products from smaller designers and manufacturers ~ and less producing their own ~ so more likely to be finding the exact same products you’d find elsewhere at boutique prices. I’m actually impressed that the majority of items fall in the under $50 range ~ and full range of products range from $4 to $2200 (a 13’ teepee!)…

Which stores are you recommending at Lincoln and Santa Monica? Only thing on this side of town i find comparable is A+R in venice for such a nice breadth of designer gifts…

Not to go on a negative rant, BUT…

DWR chaps my ass! I don’t care how nice the stuff is; it’s never worth the price. If anything, it is useful for getting ideas and then looking around on the internet for something awfully similar for far less $. Go to Lincoln Blvd. and Santa Monica and you’ll find about 5 more stores that do the same.

I’m down with their displays and product presentation (for what it’s worth.)
