Janis Joplin 1965 Porsche 356c- 07.21.10

joplin_porsche0.jpg While at the GRAMMY Museum for DigitalLA’s Crowd Source to Curation event last week ~ luckily before hopping on the panel, i had a chance to run around the museum ~ and one thing that couldn’t be missed in the lobby is Janis Joplin’s 1965 Porsche 356c painted by her friend, Dave Richards… can’t you believe it was white before the paint job? There was something surreal about seeing it in person ~ see details on the next page!

p.s. Can you believe they DROVE it into the lobby?

michael and laura joplin allowed me to install the correct license plates and frames now on the car, as well as a piece of body moulding missing for 40 years

I got to do this during a week long celebration of janis’ life and career at the rock hall in Nov of 2009, I met them both as well as some of janis’ friends
including country joe, bob neuwirth, nick gravenites.

thanks for posting these great photos.
