Water Bobble by Karim Rashid- 08.21.10

bobble0.jpg Ok. I gave in today at A+R to the Karim Rashid Water Bobble Water Bottle… First thing to note… its a water bottler that filters your water through the cap… so put tap water, drinking fountain water, etc in there, and suck it out filtered! Also for color commitmentphobes… when you replace the filter, you really replace the whole cap. So swap colors every 2 months (or more frequently even!) to keep things fresh and delicious. Also, nothing you need more after a night out than a bottle of water next to your bed, so it’s definitely a good night to test this squishy bottle out! And honestly, it’s making tap water taste pretty good! BUT, the bottle is far softer than i expected, and you can’t exactly chug water out of this bottle since you really have to squeeze/suck it out and let it re-inflate a bit before the next round. Also, as you squeeze it, if you squeeze/suck it as hard as you can, it does start to create more creases in the bottle itself that you can feel in addition to the main seam. Biggest design flaw is it’s lack of a valve to let air back into the bottle easily… Though that is slightly annoying, on first impressions, it is definitely prettier in person than i expected from the pictures circulating online! … and new smaller and larger sizes coming out any day now too! See more pics on the next page!

p.s. i kind of wish the cap/filter would just fit on random water bottles or plastic bottles i have around… then you can just add the cap/filters to nearly anything!

HI I was given a present of one of these and was delighted as had wanted one for ages. However it leaked terribly as i tried for the first time, so my friend brought it back and exchanged it for a new one, I have just tried that out and it too leaks, I cannot use this. WHAT A TERRIBLE PRODUCT!!!!!!

Leaks when drinking - crap

----- Louise 07.02.13 20:05

I had the same problem with it leaking down my neck when trying to drink. I was silly enough to buy another yesterday and same problem. I will go back to the Brita one next time although after paying over $17 yesterday I doubt I will be investing anymore money in water bottles.
I just feel angry now and ripped off. What are we paying for? A fancy bottle shape? It shouldn’t be that hard to make a decent product for that high price. Someone is getting rich, these things are not rocket science. I’m angry that they are allowed to still make them so poorly even after a few years on the market. Every day there must be thousands world wide being ripped off. A cheap plastic bottle. Poorly made and yet they charge a premium price. NOT HAPPY!

Loved it and no less than a week later it leaked everytime I took a sip (read: pull) from the bobble. Pretty simple. Product was great and then it started leaking. Save your money and just buy a Brita filter

Hello

I have purchased a number of these for various people and will be promotng the product through my daughters football/soccer team here in the Uk as they are all about healthy eating & drinking and this will help them re-hydrate.

My only problem is that with own 1 Litre Bobble I have gone through 4 filters in 6 months all of which have leaked - The actual filter’s do not screw on tightly all the time but mainly the filter develops a crack close to the top which then covers me in water when I try to drink.

The UK outlet for Bobble have been very good and sent me a couple of replacements but these have also leaked within a very short space of time - I cannot fault the customer service and just wish that the product did not have this flaw in it - I may just bite the bullet and purchase a new Bobble to see if I have more luck with the 2nd one.

Like I say the UK customer service have been 1st class but I want a product which works.

YES!!! WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE WHO THINK THEY CAN IGNORE CUSTOMERS! MY BOBBLE LEAKED IN MY BAG AT THE AIRPORT!!! WHAT A MESS! I CALLED THEM & THEY SAID OVER 2 WKS AGO THEY’D HAVE SOMEONE CALL ME & SEND A MAILER FOR THEM TO SEND ME ANOTHER!!! I’M STILL WAITING-PLUS THE NUMBER THEY GAVE ME IS NO LONGER WAITING!

EVERYONE SPREAD THE WORD-TERRIBLE INVESTMENT!!!

not for everyday use, but i find as a big traveler it’s been so handy since you can’t bring liquids through security…no more $5 bottles of water for me :)

----- cheryl 30.08.10 23:37

I bought these when they first came out. Great idea. However, I get no response when contacting them about a bottle that leaks! …poor customer service! As mentioned, they are hard to suck/drink out of. And, the bottles melt in the dishwasher! (I know, my fault!)

----- Michael W 30.08.10 17:46

I bought 4 of them for myself loving the concept… fro beside your bed at work and mostly for the gym but I am sorely disspapointed in the product and have discarded the idea and gone back to my normail bottles of water.

Poor poor poor….in my view.

You can’t get the water out of the bottle to have a drink and at the price this is a big dissapointment.

Would rather just keep using my old bottle that i’ve been using for over two years now, and just replacing it with new already filtered water. I’m tired of spending money on new gadgets that don’t really help make things any better. They just end up being more STUFF in the house that clutters everything up.

----- Jeffrey Collins 22.08.10 13:23

I think the bottle letting air back in through the bottle cap and hence back through the filter, helps keep the filter slightly cleaner by back flushing the filter giving the filter longer life.
Kind of agree with the rest though.

“Biggest design flaw is it’s lack of a valve to let air back into the bottle easily…” Agreed! I have two and don’t use them much because I can’t drink enough water at once.
