Visiting the Skip Hop Offices- 06.01.11

skipmain.jpg Just in from the awesome Anna of Sub-Studio who was able to check out our favorite design baby brand, Skip Hop’s, design studio and preview! Check out what she saw and has to share with us below!

As a new mom, it is easy to be overwhelmed by the amount of baby stuff out there. Skip Hop is a favorite of mine for their refreshingly playful and modern designs, and for their affordable prices. I got to go to their offices to check out their Fall 2011 preview, where there were lots of new additions to the Skip Hop collection. I also got a behind the scenes look at Skip Hop’s design space, and met their lead designer (who is seven months pregnant!). Check out some photos from my visit on the next page!

New additions to preexisting collections include a bright new colorway for the Dunck Stacking Bath Toy, a new Ducky bath spout cover to join the Moby whale cover, and several new animal additions to the Zoo Packs and Lunchies (I love the peanut zipper detail for the elephant backpack, and the bushy tail zipper for the fox backpack).

There are also new additions to the recently released Zoo Tableware, which features a fun set of plates and bowls designed around animal characters. An Elephant and Zebra will join the existing menagerie.

Another favorite from the preview - the new Hug and Hide activity toys. I have the Owl toy, and just like the Owl, the new Lamb, Bear, Monkey, and Dog plushes feature fun patterns and bright colors, a bunch of different textures and sounds, and a baby animal that is tucked into the parent animal’s pouch.

There are new diaper bags too! The Duo Edgewood was my favorite of Skip Hop’s new diaper bags. The bag is limited edition and features subtle wood grain quilting - I like!

And the new Zoo Playspot foam floor tiles feature the characters from the Zoo collection.

Before I left, I got to take a peak at Skip Hop’s design space. The studio was full of inspiration - trends forecasts, bright colors, prototypes, fun animals (elephants and a sock parrot!), patterns (love the alphabet print by the same designer behind the Tree Top line), and sketches. It was great to see the people behind the brand, and to get a peak at how and where they work. What a fun workplace!
