One of my highlights from Part 1 of New Designers this year was the beautiful jewelry of Kate Gilliland. Her Weird and Wonderful series plays with ideas of death and beauty, turning tragedies into beautiful, wearable works of art. Celebrating the beauty of natural history, Gilliland turns everything from tiny toads to mouse vertebrae into lovely cufflinks, necklaces and other jewelry.
