Mmmm something magnetic about this purse that just pulls me in - as does the font of the FURLA logo, go figure. The past keeps returning, and luckily for us some of the retro that works its way in actually starts to look better. The lines of the handles are beautiful and nice playful fabrics… So stuck in my head. I hate it when objects crawl into your mind and take over for a short while… i guess thats how you know you’re a designer - or a shopper - or worse, a deadly combination of the two. -Thus ends the early morning rant- Also, i think the attraction may have something to do with my love of tessellations from early childhood.
Continuing with what appears to be my growing love for dangerous things dangling around my neck… This is a sweet necklace by Analogous Jewelry of Brooklyn, NY, available at Rare Device. And as the site says, don’t worry, it’s not sharp!
Aural New York has designed some playful headphones to “flavor your ears” - nearly identical in design to those original iPod headphones, these come in Pink, Black, and Blue - and they have sent a few sets of these to share with YOU! I have 3 sets of Pink, and 2 sets of Black to giveaway, and this being the innaugural NOTCOT GIVEAWAY - the procedure will be as follows…
NOTE:: I will pick the winners Midnight tonight Pacific Time!
Aural wanted us to do a review on the headphones, but we thought it might be nice to let the readers help us review - from sound quality, to design, to simple “why i like it” - we want to hear from you. So send me an email/comment (with a color preference) and from the pink and black submissions i will randomly pick on Monday people to send them out to.
Keep in mind everyone that if we do this one well - maybe you will get an opportunity to review more products and designs in the near future!
Las Vegas Shot Show (yes. guns.) Had some fun schwag - to our left we have a guitar pic sized metal screw driver! and to the right - to show my love of leatherman and their incredible design, Leatherman chapstick… but more exciting apparently leatherman will soon be launching a multi tool with full on shears and the demo model looked quite impressive (according to my dad anyhow).
Mario SOUNDDROPs! Its the iconography combined with the idea of their respective sounds that really gets me this morning. Cute idea - makes for a fun pic… take a look at them, or buy them over at JBOX
The log. Design Franck Fontana. A block of beech or poplar is transformed into auxiliary log… From a simple gesture, the match, the window bar and the sticks are detached for a true blaze. Dimensions: 33x8.5 cm Composed of a match, 3 glazing bar, 4 sticks and 1 log, the precut whole.
Block 36. Design Franck Fontana. These 36 very beautiful matches are astutely joined together ready to light fire. Precut, only one gesture is enough to detach them.
VinylPulse has some great images from the original NanoSpore show you MUST see.
Adorable - sporelike - nanolike - and just great. (esp the poo and the head and the spray can.) Nanospore Customs Exhibition number 1 hosted by Adfunture Workshop, Ltd will be showing at New York ComicCon Feb 24-26. Featuring the work of many artists including our recent fav Shawnimals! See the flyer here
Only a Sophia Coppola flick could get away with the hot pink on black for Marie Antoinette - and that Age of Consent song from New Order is completely stuck in my head. But i must say i’m a bit excited about this one - in a way few trailers have sparked my interest lately. Maybe they really will pull off something different… and they had unprecendented access to Versailles, and all shooting took place in france! On a side note - not sure how i feel about kirsten dunst and jason schwartzman as our royal couple through the french revolution. [even molly shannon is in this one… but also steeve coogan, judy davis, asia argento, and many more]
Found a pic of this in the treo as well, i take snapshots of things to remind myself to show them to you. Restoration hardware, stumbled upon this while xmas shopping… gorgeous wine opener, nice use of leverage, beautiful rosewood handles.
Here’s what they say:
Chalais Corkscrew :: $24
True to Archimedes’ “law of the lever,” our corkscrew has extra-long handles that provide greater leverage for easier cork removal.
+ Rosewood levers span a full 10”
+ Levers conceal a pullout foil cutter and bottle opener
+ Stainless steel with nonstick corkscrew
Hey you, i assume you’re used to my post spurts after days of silence (b/c i am probably out running around, living my life, exploring the world, finding new things to share with you) - so here is another… I love this dragon, because it is so reminiscent of what i remember the jaberwocky seeming like when i was a kid. And i love dragons - mythically bizarre gorgeous dragons. Also the smiling skull and cross bones - it makes me smile. Straightforward enough. So enjoy and check out more of the clothing by TankFarm. Reading about their company story is inspiring - the two brothers started out as a record company, but their shirts were outselling their music… as everyone says, baby steps… right? Do what you do, see what works and where it all takes you. Notcot is currently trying this philosophy.
AGH - this makes me chuckle this jetlagged 8am morning. Enough to let it float in the center all alone like the masterpiece the cover is. DEconstruction paper - absolutely brilliant (brilliant colors as well). Pamela Barsky as well: she has become my theme of the day apparently.
Travel can truly be a love hate process, and one of the most painful aspects is the packing/airport security aspect of the trip. Essential but if only there was a way to do with out… These disposable pleather tags (complete with those indestructable cable ties) give your luggage that provacative edge to help them stand up for themselves when you’re not there to protect them. From “Careful: my shoes are inside” and “open with caution: dirty clothes inside” to “nothing worth stealing here” and “this is not your suitcase” - at only 12$ for a set of 6 - the colorful tags will help make your luggage faster to spot, and give it a voice of its own that can change with each mood/journey. Also from Pamela Barsky.
“i love my dog and my dog loves me” - “i’m a happy camper” - “please don’t feed the wildlife” [with that great image of a mosquito - playfully implying we have much of a choice in the matter!] - These 8x10 signs have a baked on silkscreen finish, and hangs from an attached hook on the back. Clean, simple, playfully vintage graphics and text provide just the neccessary cheekiness for any home or office. I personally am a huge fan of the happy camper one at the moment. Who wouldn’t be? Pamela Barsky also has a great line of vintage scarf pocket mirrors and magnets as well as dog tags i adore.
