SD Wallpaper

sd3.png
23” Cinema display needed a proper wallpaper, and in searching for a suitable one gave up… and while i was waiting for my friend at the airport, i drove out to Harbor Island and took this pic of San Diego and tweaked it… so if you need a wallpaper too, grab it? Or just take a look at the city i’m currently in…

Winelights

winelights.pngWine candles… I never quite understood why tea lights were called tea lights… but following the same logic, i’m assuming these would work to be wine lights? Adorably brilliant and simple idea to make use of the wine bottles which are around… =) [these are also by &Design]

Bar Code Memory

barcodemem.pngBar Codes for visualizing data &Design’s exhibition is focused on “Characterized Design” and essentially created a collection of objects which simplified the functions of the everyday into iconic pieces that are reminiscent of mac icons… (see the power switch if you’re questioning my statement… or the trash can?)

2Modern

desiron.pngComfy. And aesthetically gorgeous and minimalistic. This is the Desiron Chelsea Platform Bed… also comes in your choice of many woods. Greg Finney from 2modern dropped notcot a line, and showed me his great modern furnishings site, just in time for some holiday shopping! Also take a look at his helpful blog… some nice insights on decorating and making your perfect space.

Merci - Snow&Graham

girl.png Just taking a second to say thanks to everyone who’s been reading Notcot, and dealing with the days (ok sometimes week) that i don’t get to posting and finding things to share.

So take a look at these adorable cards and coasters and labelgrams from Snow & Graham, two Art Institue of Chicago grads who ran with their dreams in 1998 and founded this exquisite stationery line.

The Dirt on Notcot?

dirt.pngNotcot got press… Dave Burdick of the Boulder Dirt did a feature article on Josh Spear (joshspear.com), and in the process emailed me to see what Notcot was all about as well. Congrats to Josh… its a nice article giving you all more background on him and his new endeavors. As for Notcot, well it gives away a little bit more about where i am and what i’m doing.

Homage to the Classic Lamps

dek1b.jpgMagical! There’s just something about these lamps by New Yorker Mark McKenna… They are something like a hybrid between the idea of those tiniest led flashlights posted about earlier. This one is a replica of my favorite Lucellino by Ingo Maurer. Other’s in the DEK series (Designer Emulation Kits) are Castiglioni’s Arco and Toio as well as Sapper’s Tizio. Brilliant. and Functional!

Skull Stationery

skullstationery.jpg Found this company while wandering Villian’s Vault on Haight… would LOVE to have this… wouldn’t it be fun if i hand wrote posts? literally? “In a time where emails and text messages are commonplace, the traditional handwritten letter gains more importance… and when it comes time to write that ultimate love letter, or goodbye, nothing can replace sitting down at your old fashioned desk, pulling out this velvet lined engraved box, opening it to expose the delicate set of little skull stationery, while dipping your feather pen in its pot, and letting the words flow.” Can you imagine how incredible it would be to put all your old styled wit and evil plans down on this skull stationery? It really puts the process back into writing… in an elegantly devious way… I have fallen for the products by D.L.&Co… more to come in another post later?

Bikini Season

nicolita.png
It’s been a heatwave throughout Socal lately, and definitely gorgeous beach weather… not to mention some of the most breath taking sunsets of my life (and i live for sunsets, grew up by the beach, and travelled the tropics regularly… so i’m talking seriously impressive sunsets!)… and these bikinis by Nicolita are just adorably hot. I’m especially loving the cut on the bottoms of the red ones “…her scrunch bunch bottoms are reversible with a ‘heart shaped fit’!”… not to mention the “Carmen off the shoulder top features adjustable ties to enhance the U-Shaped Neckline.” Also love the style of the photography by Dimitri Newman… playful and classic.

Mistic

mistic.jpgPosted to C&M This one was too pretty to pass up, and i can imagine it on a modern take of a massive dining hall… imagine if Lumiere was pyrex? This ‘Mistic’ is a visually stunning new piece which creates what feels like a carefully entwined batch of test tubes. Israeli designer Arik Levy’s new candelabra for Turkish company Gaia & Gino is a breathtaking use of Pyrex. Coming in three sizes, its versatility allow it to be used as a candelabra, vase, centerpiece, or whatever your heart desires. Gaia & Gino are the firm which also brought you the Karim Rashid series “Happy People”, who’s goblets were all double sided.
