Rebecca Minkoff's (of Morning After Bag fame) latest for Fall is the Matinee Bag. And in the oh so trendy grey leather, it will surely be one of the more coveted bags this season. Although i haven't been hands on with one of these yet, they've sent over many a picture... and the most interesting details look like the suede flaps which can add that extra flare of color/texture when up, and hide the two secret side pockets when down (more pics below!). Equally cute is her description of the bag:
Meeting him at noon? Perfect. The Matinee bag is ideal for holding all of your work day essentials as well as your must have products. The Matinee has dual pockets on each side and is accented with a reversible suede pullback, these discrete zipper pockets open up allowing room for all those unmentionables. When has your lunch break been sexier.
See more pictures below of the model shots, purse angles/colors, and even a few sneak peeks of the launch party display of the fall collection... the display of bags delicately balanced on wood is quite interesting.

Belkin held their SF Press Event today at Vessel, and Linhchi and i stopped by to see their latest products up close and personal. It was (or is, since its on for another half hour) a dark underground lounge space that managed to feel dark when it was an extremely hot and sunny day above ground... and filled with open bar, appetizers, washable mice, more ipod and iphone cases than you knew what to do with, routers, laptop coolers, USB hubs galore, and more. So, honestly i don't even know where to start... how about you jump below and you can get a feel for the event, what was there, what we liked... and everything in the Belkin gift bag too (which feels kind of like a back to school bag... go see, and it will make a bit more sense). And it was far too fun to play with the washable mouse in person!

The ladies of Delight.com sent over a fun surprise package that really brightened up my weekend ~ and that was before i even got to seeing what was inside (but more pics of unboxing and goodies below). For those who don't know, Delight.com is an online shopping destination that announces a new product each day at lunch (noon central time) and keeps it in the store up to 30 days (when its gone. its gone!).
What i didn't know until this package showed up was how impressive their gift wrap was ~ certainly a joy to open (and if you don't get gift wrap, you still get the exciting burst of tissue paper and shopping list sticky notes!). Bookmark this one for quick gifts that are sure to impress. That being said ~ go see a sneak peek of Thursday and Friday's black and white goodies that were in the box after the jump.

On one of my obsessive design research missions - today i have been obsessing about elegantly designed functional carry on bags that are sturdy enough to withstand the elements, yet beautiful enough to not mind leaving out in your hallway. While working through options... i came across the Rimowa site and a few things jumped out that were visually noteworthy. Love the image of this case with all of the beat up stickers on it... almost enough to want to get one, stick a ton of great stickers on it, and beat it up travelling the world to get that perfectly aged effect. The Rimowa: Every Case Tells A Story Ad Spot and Making Of is just a brilliantly fast paced story that will make you wonder what your bags go through when you aren't looking. And they even collaborated with Porsche to have cases the perfectly fit that tiny trunk space AND match your paint coat. And although their main navigation page was a bit annoying to browse, its still kind of an interesting concept as you float through the space (image below).
As for the roller carryon hunt - any suggestions? So far others that have popped up are Tumi LXT, Eagle Creek Velocity, Mandarina Duck Work and Isi, and Hideo Wakamatsu Wave, and Zero Halliburton rollers...

Remember when beck's latest album had the DIY sticker album art? Well he had some great stickers from my favorite artist, Genevieve Gaukler, and now from the folks at Jeremeyville have a limited edition Sketchel, featuring art from Beck and Gaukler. "After many emails and calls between Sydney, Paris and LA, Beck, Genevieve and the Sketchel crew arrived at this limited edition shoulder bag which is available at the online store. Genevieve created a design specifically for this project, incorporating her iconic black figures into a Beck landscape on a heavy canvas that is housed within the bag front flap."

Fahrer stands for Mobility, and appeal to my love of things made from recycled truck tarps, boat covers, etc... (see my extensive Recycled Bags List). These "MeinBands" by Berlin company Fahrer are a great new take on reflective bands and straps to keep your pants from getting caught/dirtied while biking, etc. (via BigChief)

In light of all the foooood over at Tastespotting today, i've been both famished and inspired... especially in the photography realm. Often i find the most intriguing pieces to be the behind the scenes of catalog shoots, etc... take this Kate Spade set for example, the final shots are gorgeous! In a very surreal, retro, playful, glammed out sense... and then the behind the scenes shots manage to balance those same qualities, while adding another layer of realism to them. Basically, they just made me want to run out and take pictures... or start planning NOTed #2. (via love made visible)
