HAPPY BLACK FRIDAY!!! To kick off the holiday season, i’ve decided to do something a little different this year. We’ve invited a few people and companies that we’ve grown to love over the years and inspire us constantly to share their stories, processes, and/or a behind the scenes look at their world and the amazing products that come out of it. Also, they love you guys enough that most of them also wanted to give you guys presents ~ so this year it’s about feature stories and giveaways! And i might not be able to resist and might make a few new gift guides or more products as well. Additionally we’re working on bringing back and cleaning up the gift guides of the previous years, since 99% of those products i’d still gift in a heartbeat! So i’m working and shopping this black friday, expect to see the new NOTCOT Gift Guide 2009 section evolve a bit over the next few days, its my fun sandbox to play with some new ideas…

Ok, calling this a wishlist probably isn't fair ~ in reality, you have to understand that everything i ever post is stuff i am obsessively loving... and everything in ANY of the gift guides is pretty much like my wishlist or my *already have* list... Additionally, just want to take a sec and say ~ OMG Gift Guides are really hard this year! And slightly less fun! It feels like there are far less (if any) true *IT* gifts, those big ticket toys or tech items that everyone has been counting down the days until... technology and gadgets in general are disappointing for shopping (hence my really really delayed electronics/gadget accessories guides i keep wavering on posting)... tech this year as far as bigger ticket items really feels like all upgrades ~ cheaper TVs, better priced deals on console bundles, upgrades of cameras (and the ones i'm dying for are all back ordered), it's just not nearly as fun! Also, you've got to understand last year's gift guide is still totally applicable for shopping, most of that stuff is pretty timeless, and i ran through years of archives and obsessions for that one! So not having repeats from last year has been a tough one! =) You can still browse that here! That's why this year's gift guide feels a bit more silly and playful! Anyhow, been wanting to tell you guys that! Also ~ it's been a blast doing so many giveaways, and really all the giveaways are like super gift guide features of stuff i'd totally gift someone... hence, giving it away to all of you!

This one is all about lighting ~ i've recently found that one of my new favorite fall backs for gifts is lighting! especially when unboxed before hand, and setup ready to plug in or light up, there is something so magical about the unboxing experience and watching someone literally transform the room by opening it, turning it on, plugging it in! So my mother sends me an email linking Target's Club Wedd Catalog. Yes, a catalog for those prepping for their vows. No, i'm not at all anywhere near that stage of my life... and i don't *think* she's hinting at anything (she'd be skipping a major step, seeing as i'm single). Anyhow, turns out what she claims to have wanted to point out is that she really liked page 74 which has a nice "what you need in your kitchen drawer" type diagram... i love that they have things like Silicone Gadgets, Angled Measuring Cups, Potato Ricer, Zester, etc... really the whole guide could be an easy way to catch your bachelor friends up on what they need in their houses...
ALSO noteworthy... when two giants converge, as soon as i started flipping through this digital catalog, i kept feeling like i was at Daily Candy, but i knew i was at Target, naturally i thought i was losing it... Turns out i'm not completely crazy, and they enlisted Daily Candy's signature illustrator, Sujean Rim to paint the adorable images of newly weds in various stages... see more images below of my favorites!
