Click the images to see more!A quick catch up for anyone who's behind on .org... we've had some adorable dino hoodies, quite the dare to make an impact, an insanely loud funky looking airhorn, an xkcd romantic fight manifested into a real OS wiping virus/poem, puma and W's "mongolian bbq" DIY show, a town filled guinness domino chain, an incredibly fun looking couch, lipstick portraits... and then some stories of romantic quests! The guy who drew a sketch looking for a girl he saw on the subway (and he FOUND HER!) and Zack Slow and his buddy letting US choose who they will marry (and give $50,000 to).
Click the images to find out more! So many inspiring and intriguing posts up at NOTCOT.org it definitely felt like a good day to have a slightly larger roundup. I'm sure with most people busy fiddling with leopard installs... and a few unfortunate ones dealing with the painful blue screen of death on a MAC... (is it the end of an era? So sad that the quality of products and design are continuously becoming less and less satisfying!)... anyhow, for those who are swamped, but want a quick digestible bite of what's going on at org ~ here you go!
Click the images to see more! WOW. So that first pic is the Sony Bravia commercial for Egypt... they tossed more spools of thread down than i can count, and it is an incredible sight. While the bunnies were cool... watching that much thread come spinning down the side of pyramid just made my jaw drop... much like the bouncy balls and the paint! Anyhow, here are a few NOTCOT.org goodies to help you catch up/kick start the week. Happy Monday!
Click the images to see more! Here are some of my personal favorite from NOTCOT.org ~ those laptop sleeves by Working Class Heroes actually made me give in and register on Etsy to buy two... (more on that soon probably, they are my obsession of the night having just gotten back to LA from Philly). Also Marian Bantjes post on her latest work: the Saks Fifth Avenue "Want It!" Campaign... is the most adorably inspiring post i've seen in a long time, not to mention the work itself is incredible. Her calligraphic pieces showed up in everything from emails and brochures, to window displays, carpets, and 3d sculptures.
Click the images to see more!. Mmmmmm. Cinnamon Rolls. Ok this weeks roundup ~ i wanted to give you guys a little insight on how hard editing submissions can sometimes become. When i started TasteSpotting, the vision was to create a gorgeously drool worthy space filled with delectable delights... and we were excited to have ANY submissions at all. But as with all things, evolution is inevitable... and scaling, necessary. So as the visual/designy side of the site (and yes, we all know i'm quite the newbie when it comes to food)... trends have become even more apparent on TasteSpotting than any of the others lately, and it's put editing in a hard place. For example... this week, EVERYONE seems to be cooking delicious cinnamon rolls! 5 of the posts are up there, and even more were in submissions that didn't make it up... this is where it is no longer a problem about whether the image and post are things we love, but whether it is interesting and stand out enough as a Cinnamon Roll post. Because as you can imagine, a front page of 30 cinnamon roll pictures isn't exactly what people come to TasteSpotting to see. Other trends? Last week mooncakes were showing up in full force. Then there was the heirloom tomato trend before that. Pomegranates have been popular lately too. Basically when a trend organically appears, we try not to let it take over the site TOO much, and the standards tend to raise on that theme. Anyhow, i just wanted to let you all know, and see whether people had any ideas or opinions on how we should handle this. Our goal is to showcase some of the most beautiful and interesting selections of links daily to whet your palate... how do we handle the possibility of having TOO MANY posts a day? Is there such a thing?
Click the images to see more! Inspired by that post on the bottom right ~ TasteSpotting #3794 described as "Liquor + Cake! An entire 5 course tasting menu of mini cupcakes and coordinating cocktails." Here is a selection of delicious sweets and drinks to kick off your friday.
Click pics to see more! I try to wear more colorful things sometimes, but hey, it's more or less Autumn now and it's time to tone down the bright colors a bit. So here's some cool stuff that's been popping up on NotCouture in the most basic not-even-colors colors that we at NOTCOT happen to like very much: black and white.
Yup ~ i lacked the energy to do a proper post today ~ so instead i added some links i loved over on org in my laziness to write/code up something longer... so click those pics! And think of it as a 5-in-1 of wonderfully cool inspiring projects worth looking at!
In all honesty this failed vacation hasn't gotten better ~ i haven't exactly stopped or relaxed exactly, nonstop meetings/calls/emails/decision making... so i'm off to Paris with Chanel on weds ~ back in LA saturday night ~ then driving up to SF monday for the FM Conversational Marketing Summit ~ then trying again at this vacation thing perhaps?
SO silly 3:21am question of the night/morning ~ Paris ~ if i have a few hours to spare, any must see recommendations of unique stores or art exhibitions going on? (Colette is on my must visit list already) Thanks!
Click the pics to see more! I tried to theme the .org roundup this week ~ top row relatively nature related... typographic gorilla, crazy tree in the car advert, photography with wild animals in domesticated spaces, yes - that next one is a ninja turtle, and my nature row wouldn't be complete without the brilliantly snarky Indie Tits! As for the bottom row, i started out going for robots/gadget-creatures... lke the spray can creature, and the incredible robots of ashley wood, the transformers death star... then somehow started to stray into lego escher land! And ended up with the Google Earth Flight Simulator (How awesome is that? If you haven't played with it yet, you really should... and although they launched google sky ~ you can't quite play astronaut flight simulator yet...)
Click the pics to find out more! Other than the fact that we are having a California heatwave of sorts... i think since we're now into September ~ and its nearly after labor day... we are officially in Fall. So here are a few pics from NotCouture to get your shopping going this week ~ top row for the ladies, and bottom for the gents.
Click the pics to find out more! Mmmmm, Happy Labor Day! Since for all the americans this should be a nice monday off, and for the rest of the world its just another monday... it seems like a perfect excuse to give you some delicious sweets to kick your week off with, or end your long weekend with (who knows, with the day off, perhaps we can help inspire you to dabble in the kitchen a bit?)... anyhow, here are some terribly delicious looking sugary sweet finds from TasteSpotting this week.
Click pics to see more! Ahhhh there's something so satisfying to me about seeing all these great posts from NOTCOT.org together in mini form. RUGenius picked these out as her favorite 15 of the moment ~ quite the random assortment of paper folding (for transformers or in silver) - laundry shaped like Europe - naturally inspired illustrations - kids in viking beanies - an inflatable twist to a classic chair - bioshock tee - you know, the usual at .org. And the site is only ever as interesting as what YOU help contribute... so don't hesitate to share the great things you find in your everyday!
Click the pics to see more! As you can see, my vacation is currently just relaxing which inevitably leads me to end up posting and tweaking code and this lazy saturday afternoon - making roundups! So here is a pile of delicious looking pictures i loved from TasteSpotting to inspire you to go hunt and forage for some gorgeous delectable delights this weekend.
You know the drill, click the pics and see more! NOTCOT.org has been really inspiring to me lately, and really the only thing that chills me out when the businessy stuff and personal life takes over the fun designy side of life... you guys find some seriously incredible stuff. So here's a quick dose of stuff that i loved this week... (and yes i know some of the ones i picked are things i posted, but well, i really wanted to post them here but was too busy earlier!)... and that last corner post, i don't know why it surprises me anymore, but people LOVED clicking on it... i guess turning your underwear into the ui for your video games really interests people. And can you believe that icy BMW art car? Or the videos of that top row middle black and white piece? I guess i just kind of wanted to say thanks to everyone for reading, posting, sharing such incredibly cool stuff on all of the sites ~ i don't think i ever imagined how much FUN this could be, or that it had the potential to take over my life full time (in a good way)!
Click the images to find out what it is! Thought i'd give you a mix of design, food, and fashion to kick off your week. From Audi pedal cars and Flickrvision... to ooey gooey choc chip cookies and a gourmet grilled cheese... to an adorable jovich-hawk top on sale and fornarina's Gotham Girls harley quinn hoodie. Happy Monday!
Click the images to find out more! Ok just one more before i settle down to make real posts ~ there's been a lot of great technology showing up on NOTCOT.org ~ so here's a quick roundup of some of them. The iphone to xbox conversion is funny... the unboxing of the O2 Cocoon is really sweet... new wii straps are cute... the pleos wassupping is pretty funny... i would be in heaven on that hydroplaning sailboat... the idea of 3 liters of wine and a DVD changes my view of "dinner and a movie"... tinted contacts instead of sunglasses, anyone? Anyhow, feel free to explore.
