This is LIKE a gift guide, but really i also kind of tasked wonderful intern, Alyssa, to make me her wishlist as an awesome gift guide! Soooooo on the next page you can browse what she's wanting this year! Going through it, i'm pretty sure you might have a few people who'd want what she's got on there too!
Gift Guide: all the goodies for kids! And really, i'd want the majority of stuff on here too ~ and there is also stuff for little teeny tiny kids (aka new parents) ~ as well as stuffed toys, toy toys, cardboard forts and airplanes, to toys to chew on and playful woody cars and blocks! Click on through to check out the massive collage of a gift guide!
There's something so beautiful about glass, and i've been particularly obsessive with double walled glass recently (like, what is out there beyond the usual Bodum cups and such) ~ and more organic and playful glass pieces... and as gifts, they always look so precious and beautiful... fun shadows, light dancing all around! So here's a gift guide of Glassiness! See the next page for the guide, click the images to find out more, and a few coupons at the bottom to help you out as well!
Gift Guide time! Here's one rounding up some picks for just about anyone... well honestly, i didn't know what to call it, so they are kind of in that hostess gift category, that person you want somethign nice for that looks kind of cool and unusual yet totally works for everyone from your lawyer to your significant other's mom? They also make for fun conversation pieces! So check it out on the next page, click the images to see more info on them, and happy holidays!
First Gift Guide of the season, and while i promised friends and family i wouldn't do 31 days in a row like last year (it got crazy!), you can see Alyssa and i made up for it with quite the NOTCOT Holiday Coupon Book and a really exciting lineup of giveaways launching nearly everyday through xmas! (Funny thing is, as we get more excited and start posting up all these goodies as a huge THANK YOU to you, our readers, more stores we love keep contacting us wanting to share the love as well! So the list might grow... as do the coupons!)
So first guide, the REALLY fun stuff. Since gifts should be about the unexpected... those fun surprises that you never saw coming, or would never buy yourself yet secretly lusted for... So lets kick this off with Desk Toys and Stocking Stuffers! Below is a massive collage of some of my favorites, like last year, just click the products to be whisked off to find out more. Swims. I've shown you the Swims line before ~ and even a hands on review in the rain... but i never had a chance to share how amazing the umbrella and men's models are. So a few quick notes - when we spontaneously took off into the woods in vermont from our NY trip, we only had our nicer shoes... and both men's and women's shoes saved us! Even when we ran across the stream behind the log cabin. And the umbrellas - so nice that they both open and close with the push of a button! It certainly spoils you quickly when running in and out of so many down pours! Read more about Swims!
Just confirmed, dan, linhchi, and i will be running around and "covering" (having some fun, and sending pics to that new crowdfire page via mobile) all three days of Outside Lands in SF this coming weekend. Things that sound interesting about it so far... first time anyone gets to play at night in Golden Gate Park, and it is going to be Radiohead friday night! There is an "Ecolands" section - green pavilion sponsored by PGE, with solar powered stage, farmers market, tech recycling station, solar and wind cell charging stations, etc... a taste of the bay area with food from places like askew grill, bombay station, sambazon, the chieftain and more... the Winehaven, a tent of artistan wines... and FM will have a tent filled computers and wifi to share the experience digitally... and lots of art as well? I suppose i'm most excited to get a mini trip in and see some of our SF folks! Anyone else going? See the full lineup on the next page...

The summer is still going strong, and the weather has been absolutely amazing, i love the warm summer night sitting outside listening to nature all around you, watching the stars, as a bat buzzes by your head... so anyhow, writing a series of ultimate accessories wouldn't be complete without a perfect bikini and coverup ~ so my latest lust object is this refreshingly green Missoni Columbia Halter Bikini and the Missoni Corinto Silk Kaftan. Now if only someone would gift me the set with a big floppy beach hat, some fun sunglasses - and i'd grab my kindle and be off to lay outside and get some good afk time!

I was impressed to see Globe-Trotter partner with J. Crew for an exclusive line of vintage inspired luggage, the Centenary Collection... and the black collection had me swooning... and now they even have a Centenary Ivory color option that is nice and fresh and expected to ship Aug 20th!

On ultimate accessories, one of the more interesting ways to bring some green into your home is definitely in the form of terrariums (especially over cut flowers!). And your terrariums can be filled with anything from cacti or venus fly traps to flowers or bonsai... one of my favorite designs which manage to be both minimal and somewhat traditional, yet so organic and fluid feeling is definitely the blown glass terrariums of Esque at A+R. As described on the site - "Esque Design in Portland: Justin Parker and Andi Kovel blow recycled glass into purposeful sculptures that are as elegant as they are otherworldly. Case in point: These crystal-clear balloon terrariums, which frame your favorite succulents, flowers or other life into a world of their own."

When picking some of the "Ultimate Accessories" for these posts, Geneva Sound systems always pop to mind, maybe it's because i've been so tempted, but between moving and traveling quite a bit, i've had trouble committing to the pricetag for these gorgeous (and awesome sound quality!) audio systems! Ok, let's be honest, that glossy lacquered finish in the red, white, or black are far too appealing ~ and when on the floor stand, just perched so perfectly, who can ignore it in a room? Details not to miss: the cd slot, is just that - a slot in the top of the system. The hidden red LED display that shows your settings, etc from behind the speaker.... when you're ipod isn't docked, everything is hidden under a panel on the top. I've toyed with buying one of these for YEARS now... and now, to further tempt me, they debuted a prototype of the perfect black glossy tv stand/shelf with built in sound system... its gorgeous, more pics on the next page.

These days, you really need to be prepared for any and everything. And no reason why those do it all lifesavers can't look gorgeous too. I've been drawn to the Eton FR1000 since CES, where it made my Top 10 Cravings List. You never know when you might need a Self-Powered Hand-Crank AM/FM/NOAA Weather/2-Way GMRS Radio with Flashlight, Siren and Cell Phone Charger! Not only is it gorgeous... but check out some of the many features:
- 22 GMRS (General Mobile Radio System)/FRS (Family Radio System) channels
- 121 privacy codes (38 CTCSS / 83 DCS)
- AM/FM receiver
- VOX (Voice operated transmission)
- NOAA weather radio and NOAA weather alert
- Siren and Flashlight
- Can be powered from four different sources: Rechargeable Ni-MH battery, Dynamo crank alone, 4 "AA" batteries, AC Adapter (included)
- Cell-phone charging jack
For any camping trip, or just one in each car, this has definitely made my list of great gifts and emergency kits. I got my hands on one of the White Red Cross co-branded FR 1000s, so check out a full unboxing and up close shots of some of the details that show just how high the quality is! Also embedded the Eton product video for your viewing pleasure.

The *new* Jawbone, the adorable "half the size of its predecessor" bluetooth headset with the same powerful noise assassin technology, and yves behar design... is taking LA by storm even more this week than ever before. We've written about this beauty before, but since as of July 1st, all Californians must legally use some kind of handsfree while driving - these have been flying off the shelves, and we gave in and updated the NOTCOT team with them as well. So far, they work incredibly as promised, and still have that incredible packaging and awesome design details in the whole opening experience... so see a full unboxing gallery on the next page!
NOTCOT Note: This is the first in my series of Ultimate Accessories posts which have been sponsored by the new Infiniti G Sedan! Don't worry, as with any sponsored content ~ they basically give me an excuse to do a fun series of posts - my way - my product choices, my content, and they help keep the site free! And in all honesty, i'm kind of excited to be sponsored by Infiniti's new G Sedan... i've been lusting after the G Coupe for years...
So to kick off this new series, here is a product review i've saved specially for this occasion! The sleek, sexy, new Acuity office chair from Allsteel! It is the first chair design by Design Continuum Italia, the Milan-based product innovation firm headed by founding partner Bruce Fifield, and from the look of the video on the design story (embedded on the next page), they really put the users first and designed around the needs of your body.
First impressions? Out of the box, the luscious white leather and the gorgeous metal curves looked incredible ~ and on my first spin, i instantly felt more productive - it gave me this Dr. Evil meets retro first class airplane seat feeling. And then i looked down and saw the controls, simple, adorable icons just where you needed them, allowing you to shift up/down, forwards/back, and a variable lever for the level of resistance tilting back. And the CASTERS! Looking closely, the icons and the caster are my favorite design details of this chair... Skip ahead and you can see many a product shot as well as close-ups of my favorite details on the next page - including the buttoning system used to attach/remove the leather jacket.
P.S. Can you believe this gorgeous chair is also Cradle to Cradle Certified Silver by MBDC? No PVC, Recycled content above 45%, more then 90% (by weight) recyclable, fair labor practices and socially responsible initiatives are followed...
