On more fun CES booth designs, i liked Motorola’s excessive use of tubing to create the surface around their booth… you could pass through the tubes easily, and they served as a huge projection surface. More pics on the next page…

Hard to miss on La Cienega last night was Glenn Kaino’s “Bring Me the Hands of Piri Reis” at the Honor Fraser Gallery. From the large exploded boat sculpture filling the main room ~ to a beautiful series of map inspired pieces ~ to fists ~ photography ~ and so much more… it’s quite an extensive solo show! Take a peek at some of the work on the next page.

On holiday cards too good not to share ~ here’s one that just came from Division of ~ “a multi-disciplinary creative agency based in NYC.” The card reads “The peace, love, and joy we wish you this holiday season is immeasurable. Here’s a ruler for everything else.” Love the laser cut acrylic ruler and the letterpressed card (pressed by Dolce Press) it aligns so perfectly with for stencil commentary! Take a peek at the fun on the next page!
Leave it to the packaging geniuses at London/NY based Stranger & Stranger to manage to bottle up Holiday Spirit! Remember last year’s absolutely stunning No 12. Christmas Absinthe? (And they are also the design masterminds behind packaging like the Kraken!) This year they’ve taken to Spirit No. 13 ~ in proper brown bagged style, rubber band and all… and the ads are hilarious. And that’s before you even get in to the very detailed apothecary styled label inside! Take a look at all of the amazing details on the next page…

Windows for your pets, Matryoshka dolls and bioluminescent sea creatures all feature in this week’s roundup from NOTCOT.org roundup. To find out more about each post, click on its individual image.
AMAZING. It’s Christmas night, and i’m happily curled up, jetlagged, listening to music and browsing hundreds of vintage travel posters… and they are incredibly inspiring. Something about the mystery and wonder and playfulness they imply can’t be replaced by a photograph. They are filled with possibilities… i just browsed through all of the Boston Public Library Print Dept’s set and you can see my favorites on the next page!
This featured video series on beautiful visual inspiration is brought to you by FIAT! Thank you FIAT for your support of NOTCOT!
“As Above, So Below” stunningly beautiful projection mapping by Light Harvest at the DUMBO Art Show - including stop motion animation, and the suspension of over twenty performance artists from fly wires at sixteen feet off the ground. The results are beyond mesmerizing… See the video!
