You may remember this one from a previous post, if not, you can go read it there… this post is to inform you that i recieved one as a gift… and it is great! I was a little skeptical at the quality of the card and whether it was practical to fold it (and how long that would last), but i’ve been playing with it constantly for the last few days, and must admit its brilliant… this new 1gig card of mine is perfect in the treo (and allows me to leave my previous 1 gig card dedicated to music). The hinge you must be gentle with, but certainly will withstand basic usage. It now replaces not only my usb key (which once looked small, and now looks like a behemoth) but also some form of an sd card reader (be it a pcmcia or usb chunk to carry around)… AND it came with that sleek SD card keychain carrier which is sleeker than both my USB key and the standard SD card boxes, and slips nicely into one’s wallet or pocket. At 130$ it was fully worth it. SanDisk SD II Plus
We are loving this cute bag by Mikey Toledano that seems to combine M.C. Escher with a retro-modern clean look (if that makes sense). I found this bag on Girlshop.com, and now I can’t stop thinking about how many things in my closet (casual or dressy) it would go so nicely with. *sigh*
From the designer’s site:
Mikey Toledano graduated from Rhode Island School of Design in 2001 with a degree in fashion, and currently resides in Manhattan. All of her handbags are made of the finest leathers, furs, wools and velvets, and are inspired by everything from 1930ís Hollywood glamour, to modern life in New York City.

Ahhh Ex-Boyfriends. Meredith Keller’s collection got emailed to me - and i fell for the robots… well the heart broken robots and the robots that are cheeky enough to think chicks dig them. And granted i am a girl and i do dig robots, real boys are still nice at times. Check out the rest of her Ex-Boyfriend merch in shirts, barware, buttons, and even duct tape wallets…
On playfully tacky things that after viewing enough i could not resist (for about 15$ US)… the designers at FourSkin (site acting kind of broken for me) make these incredibly silly charm necklaces that look great when paired with some simple tees and jeans - or just for when you want to take your outfit above and beyond - also: great for babysitting purposes. They also have a great line of funky shirts and skirts - if you’re in town check out their cute store over in Far East Plaza in Singapore. I love the little rocker hand in gold - the KNIFE?!?! - deer toy guy - fireman - happy tomato - boyscout with functioning knees…
This was at the Bukit Timah Reserve near the house - MONKEYS. i hate monkeys - freaking scary. We watched them attack this plastic bag with (unopened vacuum packed) peanuts in it that was hanging from a stroller as soon as the parents left the kids unattended to go to the bathroom… VICIOUS. And yes i have traumatic monkey experiences from the crazy monkeys at an indonesian temple as a young child. But here this is “cute” click to see it close up, i have a whole series of this shot as the baby and parents turn towards me - and the no monkey feeding out of car windows sign is such a trip.
So - a random peek of more amusements in Singapore… on my dragon fruit theme, this “capri sonne MYSTIC dragon” juice made me giggle. The asianified Guinness Chinese New Year packaging was quite nice. And S$40 for lego star wars guys!!! INSANITY. Click for bigger pic if you want…

Scandinavian Details is a shop i came across in SF the last trip that i’ve waited months to tell you about simply b/c they had not yet gotten a website up. This Dinosaur pull toy is just precious… and the smooth simple quality of the creature pulls so sleekly, it made me wish i was a little kid so i could justify having one… “In the belief that less-complex toys create more ingenuity at play, our Swedish toys are simplified, cheerful and natural wooden toys. Brightly painted and carved from solid birch, this collection of whimsical animals and machines is highly mobile. Perched on rockers or dragged along on wheels, each toy is certain to provide hours upon hours of delight. ” For this and other well picked Scandinavian design elements visit their store and their site pronto!
ALSO : “To help celebrate our launch, we’re offering a 15% discount on all our online orders to our customers through February 4, 2006. Use this code when placing your order: JAN2006PROMO”
Remember the Wee Ninja by Shawnimals i posted about a while back? Well Shawnimals have apparently teamed up with those Mimoco guys who have the cute little USB key monsters - and released limited edition LOVE/HATE stuffed animals AND USB guys…
So i’m not sure if i love this, but i was too curious not to run NOTCOT through it - it is a site that runs bots all over your text content then gives you a “word cloud” of commonly used terms and arranges them alphabetically and then uses size to denote frequency… apparently here at notcot we talk a lot about design - love - notcot - time - wine - woody - art - and black a lot… for the lazier folk, you can also run searches on favorite authors or novels… Snap Shirts… oh yes, i nearly forgot - then they offer to print it on a shirt for you.

“Grass Orb: Don’t Cuddle”. Ha. Ok officially year of the dog at my present geographical location… and exhausted, but this amuses me. It also feels like it should have eyes, and giggle when no one is looking, and hang from your ceiling but really take over and being some kind of sci fi creature. Or that was the dream/nightmare i had when i fell asleep mid post. So check it out… as well as the other grassy spaces/objects…
Gung Hey Fat Choi (or however you bastardize that into english these days) - but its my year! (so i’ll be 24 this year) - i’m a water dog - this is the year of the fire dog… so welcome to another chance at another fresh start. This is an image of the feast we put out for the ancestors on this occaision… figured it was a nice way to welcome you all into the new year as well. So enjoy, be merry, and best of luck for the new year.
Been busy trying to find the singapore design/art scene the last few days - and also all these chinese new year happenings… been clubbing and wandering and art showing and meeting some great designers that you will inevitably hear more about here soon…
This pic is from the HEED WEED collaboration show between Yok and Draawer - which occured at Chris Lee’s incredible shop/studio Asylum (checking out their website is a must - its so playfully fun in a doodly sort of style). The show was great - reminded me of much of the Giant Robot events back home… and the store has that great wallpaper i can’t get enough of… not to mention a glass deli style case for the limited edition sneakers over by the register… and one of the most worldly/eclectic music collections for sale i’ve ever seen.

This is today’s inspiring texture/pattern i found - at the market mayhem of many stalls i wandered across a dragon fruit and had to try it - it was just such a gorgeous fruit - low and behold i fell in love with the black and white fleshy interior when i sliced it open - the taste was not so interesting but the design of this incredible fruit is just beautiful - imagine flash frozen slices as coasters? or duplicating that pattern for a wallpaper? i might have to get some high quality scans of thin slices of this sometime this trip. Read more about dragon fruits here - its part of the cactus family.
Feelin girly today - Tobias Wong’s screensaver is sparkly and mesmerizing - 100 rotating diamonds - found it via BLTD I’ve shown you other pieces form this same diamond collection from Tobias before - but i just forgot about this screensaver - and i still want this ultimate reverse setting ring - bling*
The Buddha Nose i found at Marie Mason (that little apothecary that opened up in Brentwood Country Mart - which by the way, i must note has been remodeled into the most counterintuitive space known to man - and this is the store which has managed to gain much press in all things l’ve encountered as of late) - and it amuses me that they call it Budda Nose - it brings strange images to mind - and nice simple packaging.
