NOTCOT is laying low for this week… should be back monday… life got a bit insane with work/studies/sorting of some major moves… so hang in there.
NON… one of my favorite shirts by Jordan Crane. This is the one i wear when i don’t feel like being bothered, am deep in thought and wish to disregard the world. It’s an old favorite. Sorry slacked a few days. But the blog isn’t a job, and its only as good as my real life is… so the more i live it, the more i find to post! So bear with the lulls, just means more goodness to come? Also check out the Art of Jordan Crane… He takes screen printing to a level i’m only aspiring to at the moment.
Pomme is a new LA sleepwear line, by Apple and Sweet P. This sleepless night, there is a trend in posts in the dark. And DailyCandy, just sent me my daily dose of these great pieces that are cute enough to pass as non-sleepy clothes… Of the collection this piece is my favorite, and those are just about the cutest possibly least practical slippers yet (and so inuit, i love it).
Having trouble sleeping tonight, can’t find a comfortable position. Found these online, wish i had one now. Before Brookstone’s FOM, there was MOGU, and MOGU comes in great designs and colors… tonight’s feature being the body sized ones… the angular one that emulates a side sleeper you can put between your legs… and a perfectly straight sleeper as well. … you MUST watch the video on the new Mogu Sleep System Pillow here.
Better than the product and website, is the story… of how these “powder beads” were invented and came to save a man and his company… inventing the new material while exploring ways to recycle the tiny beads left over from making bicycle helmets… You must read the full story (post jump).
Handmade walnut cheese board with Turquoise gem inlays that flow like a river. This just struck me when i was browsing online, and the mixture of colors and organic flows create an absolutely gorgeous and functional piece, perfect for serving guests, or just brightening your own cheese and french bread experience solo. Found at Clio.
TIRED… and overwhelmed with so many fascinating projects and ideas and animation bits floating in my head. Spent the day at Siggraph 2005 down at the LA convention center, will post some projects and finds that are not to be missed after a much needed nap. [if you’re in the area, google “Siggraph 2005 exhibits only code” to go check out the exhibits for free… but its worth spending the 25$ to see the Emerging Technologies, Art Gallery, and Animation Theatre]
Glarkware has a few amusing products i had to share this 2am. First we have the EKG House messenger bag, which has a button you can add on with little cottages on it. Second is the Urban Asshole Notification Cards (not sure why it is specifies urban, i’m sure they have assholes in other places as well)… [Each card is scored but not folded so you can present them as is or fold them up so that the recipient only sees “Congrats!” before they get “You’re An Asshole” and the hard truth on the other side.] And last but not least, bringing out the Rock in the Classics buttons.
Messages of the day reflecting what i’m feeling. In addition to “Be disciplined in your life so that you can be violent and original in your art” and “be realistic, demand the impossible”… i just want everyone to remember NOTCOT is all about the imagery, and less about the story and the words. Words are filler. Images are everything. Here anyhow.
Simple Human has been the talk of the town with everyone i know moving into new homes, settling into more permanent places in their lives. While the focus lately has been on their trashcans, i am quite impressed with their dishracks. This is the Swingarm Dishrack, which allows the multifunctional rack to serve as both a tray and a wine glass holder… something all of my previous racks have missed. Also innovative, take a look at the Compact Dishrack, which has a sleek integrated drip tray.
The CARGO EyePod contains 14 single use application wands, each filled with CARGO’s signature, long-wearing eye shadow gels, in a rainbow of seven pretty shades, packaged together in a convenient and portable travel case. Each shade provides a sheer wash of color that can be layered for a more dramatic look and layered on top of traditional eye shadow to add gleaming highlights and shimmer where desired
So i’ve been yoga/pilates mat shopping… It took me a while to find one i liked… so figured i’d share what i ended up on. I hate those with that sticky rubbery feel, and then you have to put a towel over it too? And i liked one that was light weight, but still gripped the floor. Wandering through target (was looking for random cleaning supplies)… found this great one by Reebok! It’s the ultra performance mat, and is thick, light, and the top is made of a layer of moisture-wicking material. Just tried it out, and it’s perfect. 23$
The rumors are true! I’ve been hearing things around that Royal Elastics have been up to some branding makeovers, but i never expected these. Those who think i only shop womens, well usually womens are more interested and have more design variation… it takes a lot more for a men’s shoe to peak my interest.
This Benicarlo takes their line of trainers to a whole new level. It feels more like experimental Prada. Yes the type that can replace flip flops, boat shoes, trainers, etc. with ease. The type that functions as your perfect dress up, dress down shoe… works for airports, or a classy pool party. Need to see it from the top, but liking what i see… now where are the girls’ equivalents?
also check out the one Josh Spear showed me after the jump.
The 40-foot structure is made of leftover plywood cutouts from a Bay Area toy factory. It serves as an altar, where people can mourn, remember, write messages, burn incense and leave flowers. It will be up until mid-September and then removed, the first in what Best and the city hope will ignite a renaissance for temporary public art, which allows artists to experiment and be more risky.
